| A dinosaur who survived whatever killed off the great reptiles 65 million years ago by tunneling underground and apparently mutated by underground pockets of uranium, Baragon made his first appearance in 1965, destroying an oil factory on the coast of Japan before moving further inland via underground. Baragon tunneled all over the Japanese countryside, devouring people and their livestock to fill his large appetite. Finally, Baragon came across a creature he couldn’t devour, Frankenstein, and the two engaged in a fierce battle across the wooded mountains of Japan until Frankenstein defeated Baragon by breaking his neck and the two kaiju sank underground when the ground gave way beneath them. Baragon reappeared years later as an inhabitant of Ogasawara Island. Once the Kilaaks took control, however, it is not known what his mission was other than to guard the Kilaak base at Isu, but he did appear as a spectator at the final battle against King Ghidorah and then returned to his island home with the other kaiju, where he has remained ever since. | |
