| I thought this film was better than the original, but Gamera wasn't in it too much. Gamera vs. Barugon was the only Gamera film that didn't star a child (YAY!). OK, synopsis time... | |

| Three Japanese treasure hunters travel to a remote island in the South Pacific, where they find an object which they think is a giant opal. However, on the way back to Japan the "opal" is accidentally exposed to infrared rays, and shortly afterwards a lizard-like monster hatches from it, quickly growing to enormous size. When the ship reaches port, the monster emerges and causes widespread destruction across Japan with his battering-ram tongue, freeze spray, and by shooting a rainbow energy ray. Gamera soon appears, having been attracted by the heat of the ray, and the Japanese military finds itself having to now fend off two giant monsters. Barugon freezes Gamera and causes more destruction until Gamera thaws and drowns Barugon in a lake. | |
