History
In 1954, the first Godzilla attacked the Japanese capital of Tokyo, totally destroying the great city. The JSDF tried everything humanly possible to destroy the monster, but in the end a chemical weapon known only as the "oxygen destroyer" was the one thing capable of stopping him. The oxygen destroyer killed Godzilla, his flesh/muscle disintegrated away leaving nothing but his skeleton, which sank to the bottom of Tokyo Bay. However, forty-five years later, in 1999, another Godzilla emerged from the ocean depths at Tateyama. The JSDF rushed to engage the Monster King as he walked onto the beach in the midst of a raging typhoon, attacking him with their Maser Tanks, also known as “Anti-Megalosaurus Units”. Godzilla was unfazed by the attack and quickly destroyed all forces that opposed him. Bellowing in victory, Godzilla marched further inland toward Tateyama and wreaked havoc on the city before returning to the ocean depths for another three years. In 2002, Godzilla returned once again, surfacing along Japan’s Kawasaki coast. However, this time Godzilla wasn’t confronted with the “Anti-Megalosaurus Units”, he was confronted by the newly built MechaGodzilla, which actually contained the DNA of the original 1954 Godzilla in its bio-computer system. The robotic kaiju quickly attacked Godzilla with everything it had as the Monster King bellowed in defiance at his new enemy. However, MechaGodzilla suddenly went haywire and Godzilla escaped back into the ocean. It seemed that Godzilla’s roar induced a flashback from the original 1954 Godzilla’s attack on Tokyo within the DNA computer and MechaGodzilla actually became the first Godzilla and laid waste to everything in site before its power ran out. Godzilla soon reappeared in Tokyo and began his assault on the city, but the reprogrammed and repaired MechaGodzilla soon flies in and the two kaiju engage in a fierce battle. The fight eventually winds up with MechaGodzilla flying in, grabbing Godzilla, carrying the King of the Monsters out to sea, and then detonates the Absolute Zero Cannon as both kaiju slam into the ocean. The water surrounding the two monster’s splashdown area instantly freezes solid and an eerie calmness fills the air. Then, the ice suddenly cracks open and Godzilla emerges, a large scar covering his chest from where the Absolute Zero Cannon detonated and froze his G-Cells. Roaring victoriously despite his wound, Godzilla swims away, leaving his damaged opponent behind.

One year after Godzilla and MechaGodzilla battled to a draw; Godzilla lies at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, still healing the wounds caused by the Absolute Zero Cannon. Soon, the wound has healed completely, except for a large, jagged scar and the King of the Monsters awakens to wreak havoc once again. A few weeks later, strange events begin occurring in the Pacific Ocean. First, the dead carcass of Kameba, a mutated snapping turtle, washes ashore at Kujukuri Beach in Japan’s Chiba prefecture with large claw marks in its neck and about the same time, an American nuclear submarine is destroyed and its radiation absorbed. Then, a few days later, Godzilla appears off the coast of Japan and the J.X.S.D.F. sends out their sea forces to try and alter Godzilla’s course, which takes him straight to Tokyo, but they fail. Godzilla soon lands in Tokyo and is engaged by dozens of armored J.X.S.D.F. units, but easily dispatches them and marches onto Tokyo. However, Mothra soon arrives and engages in battle with Godzilla. The two monsters battle fiercely until Godzilla manages to take down the adult Mothra, who is almost at the end of her life cycle, with his radioactive heat ray. Godzilla then moves in for the kill, but suddenly MechaGodzilla arrives and engages Godzilla in battle, saving Mothra from certain doom. Godzilla and his robotic counterpart battle back and forth until they knock one another to the ground, but the Monster King manages to severely damage MechaGodzilla’s circuits with his heat ray and knocks MechaGodzilla out of order. At the same time, two newly hatched Mothra larva arrive at Shinagawa port and make their way toward the battle as Godzilla prepares to destroy MechaGodzilla, but suddenly silk webbing begins to rain down onto Godzilla as the Mothra larvas join the battle. With Godzilla distracted by the webbing, the two larva make their way to check on their dying mother, but Godzilla sees this and fires his heat ray at the three Mothras, but the adult Mothra gathers her last bit of strength and flies straight into the beam, exploding as it strikes her. Seeing this, the larvas become angry and attack Godzilla, who chases them down and corners them, but just when he’s about to kill the larvas, MechaGodzilla rises and comes to the rescue. Finally repaired, MechaGodzilla flies in and begins battling with Godzilla once again. The two kaiju fight fiercely until MechaGodzilla uses his new spear weapon and jams the spear right into Godzilla’s scarred chest, drilling deep into Godzilla’s flesh and bone, and then proceeds to fire the Triple Hyper Maser Cannon, blasting Godzilla in his wounded chest, but Godzilla still stands and bellows in pain. Then, something suddenly happens in MechaGodzilla’s mechanical brain, and pictures of the original Godzilla’s past are shown … these are MechaGodzilla’s memories, the memories of the original Godzilla. As MechaGodzilla stands still next to the wounded Godzilla, the Mothra larvas begin to spray silk webbing all over the Monster King’s body, but Godzilla is weak and unable to fight back, eventually falling to the ground. Suddenly, MechaGodzilla’s exposed mechanical eye slowly moves and watches the event taking place in front of him. Soon the sun begins to rise and the red line under MechaGodzilla’s eyes begins to glow and the robotic kaiju roars like the real Godzilla as he begins to move toward the fallen King of the Monsters. MechaGodzilla walks to the cocooned Godzilla grabs him, takes off into the sky, and soon crashes into the Sea of Japan. MechaGodzilla roars and his eyes light up for the last time before the energy supply is shut off internally and both Godzilla and MechaGodzilla sink to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.
