My Comments
This is the one Godzilla movie that I can watch over and over again and not get tired of it. So I'll skip the usual praise and just get to the synopsis... Why? Because I've gotta watch it again!
Synopsis
A year after Godzilla battled Mecha-King Ghidorah, a meteor strikes the ocean right next to where Godzilla is sleeping, awakening the Monster King and causing a storm that uncovers a huge egg on Infant Island. Meanwhile in Thailand, a Japanese adventurer named Takuya is arrested for destroying an ancient temple on one of his adventures and soon his ex-wife Masako visits him in jail along with Andoh, a representative of the Marutomo Company. The company offers to get Takuya out of prison if he agrees to lead an expedition to Infant Island, he agrees and soon he, Masako, and Andoh arrive on the island, discovering the giant egg and two tiny women called the Cosmos. The Cosmos explain that they come from an ancient civilization that created two monsters, Mothra and Battra. Mothra defeated Battra long ago, but not before he destroyed their civilization. It is then decided to take Mothra’s egg to Japan, where it can be properly cared for, but on the way to Japan, Godzilla attacks the barge the ship is towing which has Mothra’s egg on it. Godzilla attacks the egg and it hatches to reveal the Mothra larva, who battles Godzilla for a bit before Battra suddenly arrives and attacks both monsters, which infuriates Godzilla. Godzilla and Battra submerge and take the battle to the ocean floor, where they both are engulfed by an underwater volcanic eruption. Once the expedition team returns to Japan, Andoh steals the Cosmos in fear that his boss will punish him for loosing the egg, but Mothra then heads for Japan in search of the tiny women, destroying everything in her path. Takuya steals the Cosmos back from Andoh and along with his ex-wife, daughter, and Miki Saegusa, reunites the Cosmos with Mothra. However, the military attacks and Mothra wraps herself in a cocoon at the capital building in order to transform into her adult form. Soon, Godzilla returns and Mothra hatches into her adult moth form, as does Battra and the two kaiju begin another battle, but when Godzilla arrives and attacks both of them, Battra and Mothra unite to defeat the King of the Monsters. In the end, Godzilla manages to kill Battra, but then both kaiju are sent plummeting into the ocean by Mothra, then the deity kaiju heads off into space to destroy an asteroid that is threatening Earth, something that Battra was originally going to do.
