| In the near future, a century of nuclear tests and modern warfare, as well as unchecked scientific advances, have resulted in serious damage to the planet’s environment. These events have also caused the creation or revival of many giant monsters. One of these monsters, Manda, a giant sea serpent with the head of a dragon, terrorized the ocean waters of northern Europe. That is, until the day that the Earth Defense Forces sent their most powerful battleship, the Gotengo, to engage Manda. Manda and the Gotengo battled back and forth, with the giant sea serpent eventually coiling around the hull of the ship and constricting himself, putting tons and tons of pressure on the Gotengo’s hull. Manda then began to drag the Gotengo further and further into the ocean depths, exceeding the ships tolerance and causing the hull to begin rupturing. However, the captain of the Gotengo spots an underwater volcano and has his crew steer the ship toward it. Within the volcano, the intense heat forces Manda to release his hold on the Gotengo and the battleship quickly makes for the surface. However, Manda pursues them and the ship makes a quick 180 degree turn. The Gotengo then fires on the approaching Manda with its freeze maser, striking the giant sea serpent and freezing him solid. The Gotengo then activates its drill and runs straight into Manda, shattering the monster and killing him. | |
