| The new Mothra, dubbed Mothra Leo, hatched from an egg on Infant Island when he sensed his mother’s distress as the monster Death Ghidorah relentlessly attacked her (the mother Mothra being the one battled Godzilla alongside Battra in 1992). The larva quickly swam to Hokkaido, where the battle was taking place, and proceeded to assist his mother in the fight, but in the end, the adult Mothra was forced to retreat with her larva child in tow. Already old and now mortally wounded by Death Ghidorah, the elder Mothra deposited her child into the sea and sank beneath the waves. The young Mothra larva watched his mother disappear beneath the waves and then swam to an island where he created a cocoon on an ancient cherry tree. He later emerged from the cocoon as a more powerful adult form that was connected to the very Earth itself. Mothra Leo then returned to Hokkaido and attacked the rampaging Death Ghidorah, eventually defeating the evil monster and resealing him in his ancient prison. | |
