| I originally saw this film back in 1992 and from then until now I have never really liked Mothra and thought this film could have used some improvement, but I gave it a good review anyway. The worst part was those twin fairies or Shobijin. Those dang things drove me crazy "Mothra! Mothra!" However, I've grown to appreciate them more and more as I get older. The monster fights are really good and the special effects really are great for the time, especially the electricity strikes on Godzilla. Anyway, onto the synopsis... | |

| In Japan, a huge storm destroys an industrial park and washes a huge egg ashore near Nagoya. Reporter Sakai and photographer Junko are sent by their newspaper to take photos and report on the devastation, but instead they find a strange organic substance. After checking it out themselves, they give the object to Professor Miura, who had been called in to examine the tremendous egg, which the owner of the industrial park, Kumiyama, purchases from the fishermen who brought it in. Kumiyama, along with his partner Torahata, plans to build a giant incubator in his new amusement park, called Happy Enterprises, in order to hatch the egg. While those plans are being developed, tiny twin girls from Infant Island appear in their hotel room, begging them the men to return Mothra’s egg to the island, but instead they try to capture the twin girls, who easily escape the bungling businessmen. The girls then seek out Sakai, Junko, and Professor Miura for help and they try to assist them in persuading Kumiyama and Torahata to return the egg, but to no avail. Meanwhile, Professor Mimura discovers that the object found at the industrial site is radioactive and returns to the park, finding even more radioactivity. Suddenly, the ground begins to shake and Godzilla rises from the ground, instantly beginning an attack on Nagoya and endangering Mothra’s egg. The reporters and the professor then journey to Infant Island, seeking Mothra’s help against Godzilla. The natives and the twin girls reluctantly agree and send Mothra, who battles Godzilla, but is killed by the Monster King. After the death of the adult, the egg hatches to reveal twin larvae, who attack Godzilla and wrap him in a silk cocoon and sending Godzilla toppling into the ocean before they larvae return to Infant Island. | |
