| In 1989, Japan had perfected a type of bacteria that would neutralize radioactive material in case of a nuclear accident or against nuclear weapons. Once Godzilla returned, however, the military instead decided to use it against the Monster King and his nuclear-based body. While Godzilla was attacking Osaka, four men armed with bazookas took up position in business buildings around him. Three managed to shoot Godzilla with special shells that injected the bacteria into Godzilla. The fourth soldier, Colonel Gondo, shot one directly into Godzilla's mouth, but at the cost of his life. The bacteria didn’t take affect at first, due to Godzilla’s low body temperature. So the JSDF decided to bring out their TC system, a “Thunder Control” system that can create artificial lightning. Godzilla was lured into the field and the TC system raised his temperature enough for the bacteria to take effect, but Biollante suddenly arrived and Godzilla ignored the bacteria until he could stand it no longer and collapsed into the ocean. The ocean lowered Godzilla’s temp and stopped the bacteria from multiplying, allowing the King of the Monsters to stand up and swim back out to sea. | |
