Baragon 1965
Baragon`65

Played by: Haruo Nakajima

For the film “Frankenstein Conquers the World” in 1965, Toho Studios created Baragon, one of the most effective monster designs during the 1960s. The suit had several original features that really made it memorable to the fans. Its grinning expression, big floppy ears, glowing nasal horn, pudgy face, brown skin, and a ridged back were just some of its many features. As for the actor within, suit actor Haruo Nakajima, the suit was very flexible, allowing him to assume both quadruped and two-legged stances. The suit also did a fantastic job of concealing the actor within. After “Frankenstein Conquers the World”, the Baragon suit was lent to Tsuburaya Productions for the Ultraman series and was changed again and again. Unfortunately, this resulted in the suit being fit only for short screen shots in 1968’s “Destroy All Monsters”, even after being refurbished for the film, since the suit had been damaged from all the wear and tear.
