Unnamed island - 4 years after the notorious Tyrantis Incident
It had felt like eons since the red-eyed Tyrantis had left. Retaining order had become continually harder for the king of the island, a blue eyed Tyrantis, and his queen. No burdened with children, They could not fight valiantly anymore. The smaller creatures remained loyal to the monarchs, but the larger spinalsaurs had begun to rebel, and the allosaurons were following. Food was scarce, for the whales and other sea creatures were beginning to realize the danger of the island.
The famine couldn't cause death, but it was leading each creature's mind further down the road to insanity. Brawls occurred between animals, and occasionally small creatures were devoured by larger ones, only to tear their way out of the stomach of their captors months later. Many wanted to leave the island, but Tyrantis would not allow it until his brother returned. Either way, it was a horrible way to live.
The last four years had been very eventful for Dr. Lerna. He had now become one of the greatest kaijuologists, or monster scientists, in America. Kaijuology was the study of monsters, generally large ones, and combined many different sciences. He was even developing a Kaijuology museum for San Francisco, which would house information about monsters such as Tyrantis and, if Lerna's dreams came true, many giant monsters to be used as humanity's hope against further threats. The more he studied Tyrantis's barely living body, the more Lerna realized that he could make any creature he could imagine with such technology.
A thought struck Lerna at that moment. What about Tyrantis's brethren? He had already concluded that there had to be some other creatures, but where? Had they all stayed on that one island? Or did they all migrate, like Tyrantis? Lerna decided that the only way to be sure was to make an expedition. He took his notes and left to begin what would be one of the greatest adventures of his life.
Chapter 2: Expeditions
Dr. Lerna's expedition to the island was green-lighted, and soon he was off to visit his creations once again. However, he didn't fully agree with his company. He was traveling on an air craft carrier, armed with the latest weaponry from the army... and J.C. Clark, the very man who had destroyed Lerna's creations. No, not destroyed. Mutilated, violated, and tainted, but they were not destroyed.
'You'd better be right about this, Dr. Lerna." Clark sneered. "Because if you're not, you've blown thousands of dollars out of your butt. And this time it'll be me laughing in the corner at your expense."
"Oh, I'm right. I have to be." Lerna muttered.
They were finally nearing the island when they saw it. A great brown beast, with a large lime green sail on its back, fishing in the shallow water by the island. From the distance it looked tiny, but the closer they got to the island, the more its size became clear to them. Dr. Lerna soon recognized the beast as a mutated spinosaurus, one of the largest predators in Africa. It had a large crocodile like face, equipped with a special "fish trap", comprised of large inward curved teeth, but it's spines were much larger. I'll call it Spinalsaurus. It suddenly stared right back at them, letting loose an earth-shattering roar. It was an eerie sound, unlike any rorar Lerna had ever heard. As the beast began to charge their boat, Lerna glared at J.C.
"So, Mr. Clark, who was right and who was wrong?"
Fire erupted from the island as a green form burst through, rushing towards the Spinalsaurus. The second behemoth was one everybody knew, a Tyrantis. It barked at the Spinalsaur, who hissed in reply. It then let out a different roar, and charged the Tyrantis. At first the green goliath was stunned, but it quickly got back into the fray. He bit the crocodile-like monster's neck, snapping hte vertabrae. As the Spinal saur fell to the ground, Tyrantis kicked it in the side. Lerna wondered if the Spinalsaur was dead. His question was soon answered, for it quickly rose from the waves and pulled Tyrantis under. The fight was blocked from Lerna's veiw by the water, but from the ferocity of the waves and roars he assumed it must have been brutal.
Suddenly flame erupted from the waves, and the fight was blocked by steam. When the smoke cleared, the Spinalsaur was flying through the air, landing a few yards away from the boat, head first. Tyrantis barked once again, and dragged the unconscious Spinalsaur back to the mainland. He gave one glance to the ship, then continued dragging the KOed dinosaur into the forest.
Chapter 3: The Jungle of Giant Monsters
Dr. Lerna, J.C. Clark, and a team of highly trained commandos left the aircraft carrier to explore the island. From the footage of Tyrantis's raid on San Francisco, they could tell that the creatures didn't notice humans, excluding ones in vehicles.
As they traveled into the island, they noticed much of the forest had been trampled into huge paths. Footprints of varying shapes and sizes followed the paths. If Lerna didn't know better, he would have thought that the dinosaurs had made these paths on purpose.
The Spinalsaurs hissed at Tyrantis. The rex snarled in return, standing in the middle of the group. Almost every creature on the island was there, the only exceptions were guarding the nests around the island. The raptors, who had a parrot like ability to mimic sound, had become the official translators.
"Why did you stop me from getting the food?" The bull Spinalsaur growled.
"Did you ever wonder if maybe, just maybe, that was a messenger?" the Tyrantis growled back. "Perhaps there are others across the water that were willing to help us. I saw moving creatures on that thing in the water, creatures that couldn't travel the distance here by themselves. We should try and communicate with it."
"What?" the Spinalsaur questioned. "That's preposterous. Those creatures you saw were probably parasites! that may have been the last peice of food for days, and you allowed it to get away?"
"For the betterment of the tribes, I believe we should try and communicate with the beast!" Tyrantis said calmly. "Besides, when I looked back, it hadn't moved a bit. It is still there."
"You've doomed us all, Tyrantis!" the Spinalsaur screeched. "And you'll pay!"
"Quiet, you insolent fool!" Tyrantis roared. "I will send the raptors to talk to the thing. Save your anger for after that time."
Spinalsaur muttered to the rest of his pack, glaring at Tyrantis. The raptors then departed, and the rest of the clans followed.
Chapter 4: A Lost World
Lerna marveled at the beauty of the island. However, it was very small, and he wondered how the creatures on it survived with so little food. Did they devour each other, or had they figured out some way to fish. The virus was supposed to make them more intelligent. From the study Lerna had done on Tyrantis's brain activity, they were at least at the same level of dolphins, maybe even as smart as humans. Or smarter Lerna thought with a shudder.
Suddenly they heard a loud squawking in the distance. The men ran towards the sound. They found around thirty velociraptor like animals, all busy. Some were sitting on giant nests, others were standing around, looking as thought they were talking. The smallest were playing like rowdy lion cubs. The animals were brightly colored, with mixtures of pink and sky blue amidst their yellow and green feathers. they were different than the raptors Lerna remembered, which were sand colored. Perhaps the discoloration was part of the mutation. Other than that, they seemed like normal raptors. Lerna wondered if they had any special powers.
At that moment, two of the raptors began to snarl at one another. They clicked their claws together, and then leapt into the air. As they slashed at each other with their claws, sparks showered the area. Lerna noticed that their claws were glowing with electricity. One raptor struck the ground with his foot, sending a small tremor towards the other raptor. It screech as it tripped, and then its opponent leapt into the air again, this time landing on the other raptor. The fight was over.
I'll call them Gigaraptors.
Lerna's group decided to move on, for they had a lot of land to cover. Their mission was purely to find out how many creatures there were. What to do about them would come later.
It had been six hours since Lerna had visited the raptors. In those hours he had identified and named several monsters. There were the Ceratozillas, a mutation of the meat eating dinosaur ceratosaurus, Big Alls, mutated allosaurs, Dillos, mutated dillophosaurs, Carnages, mutated carnotaurs, and the mutated rhamphuricuses, which he named Rhamicons. With the Gigaraptors, Spinalsaurus, and Tyrantises, that made a total of eight new species.
However, he had not seen the Tyrantis nest yet. That was his main interest, for he wanted to know how many of them there were. When they finally reached it, he was surprised. There was only one creature at the nest. However, she was different from the two others he had seen. She lacked the ridges of the other two, and was slightly larger. Lerna was now sure that she was a female, because it was only males that had the ridges on their faces. That meant that there was at least one other monster. But why wasn't he guarding the nest?
As Lerna pondered the question, a giant suddenly burst through the trees. It was the bull Spinalsaur. He lunged at the female Tyrantis, who made a sound eerily similar to laughter. Suddenly the blue eyed male burst through the other side of the forest and bit the Spinalsaur's throat, yanking it off the ground. It threw its opponent back into the woods, snarled, and laid down next to its mate. Lerna and the other men knew what had happened. The male had set up an ambush. Definitely as smart as humans Lerna thought.
Chapter 5: Tyranis vs. the three Spinalsaurs
Lerna and his group were back on the aircraft carrier. As one of the commandos relayed the information they had gathered to the states, J.C. Clark snuck behind Lerna.
"Bet you feel ashamed of what you did, making these dinosaurs. Am I right?" he sneered.
"No, I'm ashamed of what you've done." Lerna snapped. "We have to find a way to stop these animal's suffering. They're so malnourished. We need to find them some food."
"Or, and this is just a suggestion," Clark said, "we could kill them. Does that sound good?"
"If we couldn't kill the first one, what makes you think we could kill these monsters?" Lerna replied.
"We did kill the first one."
"No, that's what you told the public. The last I've heard, Tyrantis one was comatose, but not dead. And from the studying I've done, Tyrantis's regenerative cells are too quick for an form of attack to mortally wound them, save very, very, very severe brain damage." Lerna paused for a moment. "Besides, think of hat we could learn from these creatures."
The Aircraft carrier began to move back toward America, so they could help form the plan of action. However, they were delayed by a great amount of turmoil on the island. Tyrantis was running out of the forest, with three Spinalsaurs in quick pursuit. They tripped the great beast, then attacked him savagely. Tyrantis returned the favor by engulfing them in flame. They dived into the water, then quickly ran back into the fray. Tyrantis bit one of the Spinalsaurs, securely held it in his jaws, then spat a fireball into the wound. The result was a massive explosion, which sent the flaming Spinalsaur flying into the air like a rocket. It crashed into the ocean, unconscious but still alive. The other Spinalsaurs charged Tyrantis. The bull tore into his side as the other snapped at his throat. Tyrantis roared in agony and bit one of the spinalsaurs on the head, then in a rage shot a fireball into its head. The spinalsaur's head exploded, and the dead creature fell to the ground with a large splash. The bull spinalsaur screamed, and attacked Tyrantis with everything it had.
In the midst of this, the men on the aircraft carrier had armed their missiles. With one great volly it knocked both dinosaus to the ground, and sailed away.
Hours passed before the three giant monsters woke up. They could not remember parts of the battle. Only the bull Spinalsaur remembered anything, and all he could recall were the misslies, the explosion of his mate's head, and his anger at Tyrantis. He began to think, trying to put the pieces of the battle together. The misslies caused explosions, and his mates head exploded. That's what must have killed his mate.
The bull roar so loud that every creature within a three mile radius of the island could hear him. He began to run after the boat, snarling the whole way. As the other monsters gathered by the shore, Tyrantis asked one of the raptors to find out what was happening. The raptor asked the bull, who snarled in reply, "It killed my mate. I will find it, and kill everything in sight until it's dead."
"What is it?" the raptor asked.
"The 'messenger' from our missionary, red eye. It was no messenger, it was a murderer! MURDERER!"
When Tyrantis heard the message, he growled. Though he did not remember killing the female, he knew that somehow it was his duty to help Spinalsaur avenge his mate's death.
A Gigaraptor dashed through the forest towards Tyrantis. It chirped to the great Tyrantosaur. "One of your children was taken by a black bird that landed on the beast in the waters!"
Tyrantis roared. First it killed Spinalsaur's mate, then it kidnapped his child! Tyrantis had to get his child back, then make the beast pay! He glanced at Spinalsaur, who nodded back. The snarled, the roared as they swam after the beast.
And with that, almost every monster on the island began to head toward America.
Chapter 6: The Final Chapter
The army was still preparing countermeasures when they attacked. The dinosaur monsters devastated the already destroyed city. Finally troops arrived, informed about the necessary head shot.
The battle was short, and the monsters were winning. Knowing how to kill them was easy, but getting through their thick scales and skulls to do heavy brain damage was hard. Since nuclear weapons were not allowed, not a single dinosaur had been killed.
One pilot decided that he would rather take one of them out than die senselessly. He drove his plane, while shooting his missiles, into one of the monster's skulls. The monster's head, or rather pieces of it, flew through the air as its body crashed to the ground. It was one of the Spinalsaurs.
The bull, now the last of his kind, roared in a blind fury and let loose his own hellish death ray, a stream of electric flame. It vaporized every plane and tank in the city, while destroying most of the surrounding buildings.
Tyrantis was nowhere to be seen. He had was busy looking for his son. He traveled up and down the shore, ignoring every thing that tried to hurt him. Finally, after a lot of searching, he found the great beast that had killed the bull Spinalsaur's mate. Sure enough, Tyrantis's kid had been taken by it. The dinosaur growled, lunging at the ship. He grabbed his baby with his tiny forearms, then destroyed the ship.
Spinalsaur, now the last of his species, cried in agony. He waded back into the sea, with the rest in close pursuit. Only Tyrantis lingered. A familiar smell crossed his nose. It baffled him. He tried to identify it, but it was so faint. The other monsters roared, calling Tyrantis back. As he left, he took one last glance at the shore. He sensed that someday he would return.
Dr. Lerna was now in the office of the president of the United States, giving his report on the now infamous "Monster siege" of San Francisco Bay, and on the home of the monsters, to the commander and chief. As the president read it, he smiled and asked, "Dr. Lerna, what would you suggest to do about this?"
Dr. Lerna paused. "Well, after a lot of study on the Omega Virus D's affect on Tyrantis's cells, I've been thinking about using them in a controlled setting. Making giant monsters, training them, and using them as a defense against future monster attacks."
"You want to make monsters to stop other monsters?"
"You know what they say, fight fire with fire."
The president began to think. "Where would we put them?"
"In a museum, where we could hold all of the world's information about giant monsters! Sort of a Giant Monster Bureau!"
Suddenly a wide grin spread across the president's face. "Alright Lerna, make your monsters."
