Poseidon Lord of the Depths

Chapter 1
The year was 2014 A.D. A huge supercomputer, named Cronus, had been made. The computer generated enough solar energy to supply all of earth with the vast amounts of energy it needed, and was able to monitor and help every single person's financial needs. It contained all the information known to man. However, to run the computer needed a huge nuclear reactor, since it could not generate enough energy to support itself and the world.
However, not all people were fond of Cronus. The machine was seen by many as an attempt to play God, and angered so many that a terrorist group formed devoted to destroying the computer. They called themselves Gaea's Revenge.
One night, the group led an attack on the computer. They overpowered the security guards, and though many were killed in the battle, two men from Gaea's Revenge were able to reach the computer's core, destroying it from the inside. The computer suddenly fell over, crashing into the sea with the survivors of the battle with it. In a large electric blast, the computer's toxic waste container exploded, emptying into the sea.
Nearby, a dying shark was surrounded by the waste then electrocuted by one of the computer's stray wires. Thousands of other sea creatures went under a similar experience, and while most perished, a few survived. This is where the strange journey of Poseidon began.
Chapter 2: The Attacks
A ship was sailing through the debris of Cronus. Lots of dead birds and sea animals were floating in the area of the burning laboratory. They knew that the group Gaea's Revenge was up to it all. A troop of mini-subs entered the sunken lab.
When inside, the bodies of security guards and terrorists were found. They then found the areas where the chemicals were still leaking. The military group that was cleaning up tied strong wires to the lab and began the long and difficult process of lifting the laboratory up out of the water. Suddenly, the subs saw a large shadow moving towards them. It swam right into the wires. It began to struggle and try to get free. Above the water the wires were seen being pulled around.
"What the hell's going on down there?" the commander of the ship asked one of the men in the mini-subs down below.
"It's some kind of huge creature. It's trapped in the wires." Suddenly his voice was cut off, and left static.
Foam and large bubbles erupted from the water. "Continue pulling." the commander ordered, so it was done. It was however impossible to lift it up with the extra weight. Suddenly the weight disappeared. The wires had snapped. The ship rocked back and forth as the water began to foam more and more. Suddenly the ship was hit hard. Water began to fill the ship. Men and women fell off the boat, into the bubbling water. Some unknown force sucked them under. The ship was soon underwater. No one survived. With this failure, the whole world was in darkness, without the power provided by Cronus.
Chapter 3: Poseidon
After months of chaos and darkness, the world had finally restored order. Power was once again made, this time with self-powered solar plants. Although none of these were as efficient as Cronus, they were able to provide energy as long as there was sunlight. Luckily, it was summer, and there was plenty of sunlight to share while the plants gathered enough energy to last during the winter.
However, just as everything was getting back on track, tragedy struck. An oil tanker was mysteriously sunk off the Florida coast. It would have been counted as an accident, except for its last transmission: "Oh my God, something is rising out of the water! Why, I think it's a gia-"
Then it cut off.
A small group of coast guard ships were sent to examine the wreck. They too, were sunk, leaving behind another strange transmission.
"We're nearing the sight of the shipwreck. It seems as though the ship was bitten in half. I can.... wait a minute! There seems to be a... a... a plane crashing, just a dozen or so miles ahead of us! We're going to try and rescue any survivors. Wait.... the plane, it's surfacing! It's coming back out of the water! Now that I can see it, I can make out some details! It's greyish blue, with a shiny look to it. It seems rather large, and apparently it can move in and out of water, like a giant pontoon ship. It has a lot of white, jagged pieces of metal near the front... why, it almost looks like an animal! Its wings are... Oh my God! Oh my GOD! OH MY GOD! OH MY-"
Chapter 4: The Flying Monster
A few jets were sent out to see this winged object over the ocean. They saw something large dive into the ocean. One of the best pilots was a young woman named Diana Henry. She saw the huge object near the surface, moving towards Florida.
"There's an object down there. I think it's some kind of submarine. It's huge, and it's heading towards Florida." she reported.
She and the other two pilots turned back to chase it. Since it was a nice sunny day, people were at the beaches, swimming, tanning, and just having a good time. One group of young teens was on some rafts, tied together, fishing. Suddenly one of the rafts popped and was surrounded by bubbling water. The teens cried out in terror as they were sucked under. They were not alone, as many other swimmers were being pulled beneath the waves. Three other rafts were tied to the first raft. They were being pulled at full speed pulled under as swimmers were dragged bellow the sea. Suddenly a large fin appeared out of the water. The lifeguards began blowing whistles and yelling at everyone to get out of the water. Suddenly a large grayish blue object came up out of the water. It was a giant shark. Its beady black eyes focused on all those on land. Its fins straightened out and turned into what looked like metal and it began to fly. In its mouth dragged the rope that connected the three rafts. The teenagers fell out, but the rafts remained stuck to the shark's teeth. The shark then flew over Miami, nothing being able to stop it. Until the three jets came up behind him.
Chapter 5: Undertow
The jets approached the shark at full speed, barely managing to catch up to it. For such a tremendous beast, it was very fast. The shark was eighty meters long, easily making it the largest flying object on earth. It was such a marvel that the jets sent after it were not packing the normal ammo, but instead needle-like missles that were filled with tranquilizer.
The shark was completely unaware of the jets. It was focused on the people below. The shark smiled, then dived towards them. They ran in terror as the fish opened it mouth, reveling two jaws, each lined with three rows of sharp teeth. Luckily, the jets fired their ammo just as the shark touched the ground. It fell into a deep sleep.
Hours later, shark specialists from around the country were gathered at the site of the creature.
Bill Mackenzie, one of the scientists, told the press "I have studied this animal, and have one conclusion. This beast is not a shark. It may have been a shark at one time, but it isn't one anymore. Notice its front fins. Their structure is more like a flying fish's than a shark's. Its tiny back fins have turned into tiny legs. And it has developed one feature that is very uncommon in sharks: lungs. Not only does this shark have gills, but it also has functional lungs! Only a few species of fish have lungs, but none have such developed lungs as this animal. Theoretically, it could never go into the water and survive! This 'shark' barely qualifies as a fish!"
"Then what is it?" asked one of the reporters.
"It is truly the king of the seas. I dub it Leviathyus poseidonus, or for short, Poseidon!"
That night, Florida thought that it was finally safe from the monster attacks. It was wrong. Later that night, a coast guard ship was patrolling Florida's coast when they spotted a light in the distance. The ship got close to the light, unaware that it would spell their doom.
Suddenly the source of the light disappeared. It was replaced by a huge, hideous face lined with large fangs. The crew of the ship screamed as they were swallowed by the gaping mouth, never to see the light of day again.
Chapter 6: Poseidon’s Rampage
Diana was still in the jet and was watching as people crowded around the giant shark. Some man was talking to them all, she figured it was about the beast. She and the other pilots were ordered to keep an eye on the beast for at least half an hour.
Back on the ground, the shark slowly opened up its eyes. It looked at all the people staring up at him. He suddenly roared a strange roar, not heard before. He then took off into the sky. He flew over the city at great speed, making a strange high-pitched noise. The speed and noise broke metal, concrete, and glass apart as he flew.
The jets chased after Poseidon. He glanced at them and flew towards them. Before they could fire, he moved up and over the jets. The jets were caught in the sound and began breaking apart. Diana stayed in her plane while the other pilots ejected themselves. Poseidon flew at them and caught them in his mouth and swallowed them whole. Diana moved her plane towards a building so that she crashed through a window and into a large office. She quickly got out as the jet set on fire, then the office was in flames. She made it to an elevator and got in. The elevator began moving down. She then heard the high pitched noise of the flying shark. The whole building fell out of commission. The power went out and the elevator stopped.
Chapter 7: Poseidon vs. The Army
Diana was now flying over the city, hanging in an elevator that was stuck in Poseidon's teeth. The shark had eaten a whole part of the building in an attempt to devour Diana. Disappointed that there was no meat in the chunk of concrete, Poseidon spat it out. The elevator crashed to the ground, unconscious.
Meanwhile, at least fifty tanks entered the area, followed by 150 jets. They were under the command of General Ahab. The general was often teased for his name, which is why he never wanted to be in the navy. Anything that involved the sea brought up memories of the constant teasing of his schoolmates. He could never escape the ridicule. Now it seemed that life was mocking him again, putting him at odds with a giant shark.
"Tanks, attract the shark's attention! Jets, hit it with all you've got. If those scientists want to study it, they'll have to study its corpse!" Ahab ordered.
The tanks fired on Poseidon, but he easily dodged their fire. He was not concerned with these land-based weapons. The jets were the ones he was afraid of. The shark flew into the swarm of airplanes, eating some, smashing against others, and blowing the rest out of the sky with sonic booms. In thirty-seven seconds he took out all 150 jets. The shark then moved towards the tanks, creating another sonic boom. The tanks were blown away, and even the earth cracked under the mighty wind. Poseidon lived up to his title, for he was a god in the sea and a creator of earthquakes.
The general made his way out of the tank, only to be swallowed by the shark.
Poseidon roared in triumph, unaware that danger lied in wait for him. Night was falling, and as the sun fell lower and lower, the shark's stalker began to move closer and closer. The sun soon fell, and Undertow rose from the waves onto the shore, towards Poseidon.
Meanwhile, Diana had made her way out of the elevator. By her was a jet, still able to fly but with a dead driver. Suddenly Diana had a plan.
Chapter 8: Poseidon vs. Undertow
Poseidon was gliding over the city of Miami. He was making back for the ocean and saw something, a very bright light. Poseidon grunted and moved towards it. The light got brighter the closer he got. Undertow stood still, keeping the light on his antenna bright, he saw his prey moving towards him, it was large, but he was very hungry.
Diana got into the jet, throwing its former owner out. She shut the door and took off after Poseidon. In the distance she saw the light. She hadn't seen anything like it so she slowed down.
Poseidon was right next to the glowing ball when suddenly Undertow snapped at Poseidon. Poseidon dove up and out of Undertow's reach. Undertow leaped into the air, but Poseidon dodged. Undertow landed back into the water.
Poseidon dove down and bit onto the antenna coming out of Undertow's head. The shark tore at it until it came off. Undertow roared in pain and fell over onto his back. Diana did not know which monster to attack, so she kept a safe distance from the two beasts. Poseidon dove at Undertow, forcing him into the ocean again. The light on the antenna was stuck in the sand and slowly shut off. Poseidon bit onto the side of Undertow's head and drove it deeper and deeper into the ocean.
Diana saw the water bubbling as the monsters swam further and further into the sea. She began following the movement in the water.
Chapter 9: Let the God Go Free
In a great wave, Poseidon flew from out of the water. The shark crashed onto the beach. Undertow followed, gurgling as it waded into the city. It was now clear that Poseidon was either dead or unconscious.
Undertow moved cautiously towards Poseidon, checking to see if he was dead or not. Feeling reassured, Undertow picked the shark up in his mouth and began to swallow. As the flying beast's head began to disappear into the maw, its eyes opened. Poseidon rammed his blade-like fins through each side of Undertow's head, then opened them to reveal his bat-like wings. The shark began to fly, carrying his wounded adversary with him. The sun was beginning to rise, but Undertow was in too much pain to close his eyes. When the sun revealed itself, the fish couldn't help to look. The light caused an epileptic seizure, killed Undertow in the most painful way possible. With his foe defeated, Poseidon cut through the orange fish's body and freed himself. Tired and hungry, Poseidon retreated to the sea.
Diana decided not to pursue. If the shark wanted to live in the sea, then by all right he deserved to. She was in no condition to go monster hunting. For now, the god of the oceans could live in peace.
Two years later...
Diana had been given many awards for her service in the fight against Poseidon. She had become such a hero and made so much money that she enjoyed an early retirement at the age of twenty-seven.
Poseidon was last spotted somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. There had not been an attack since. There had been reports of several other monsters, both in and out of sea. None were sighted in cities, but America remained vigilant.
