Tyrantis 4: The Omega Virus Strikes Back!
By: Willie Cope

Chapter 1: OVDG Escapes

In the military base known as Area 51, ten scientists were clustered around the corpse of the first Tyrantis. The head, spine, feet, arms, back, and tail had all been removed to create the cyborg MechaTyrantis, but there were still many pieces left of the monster. There was one puzzling part about these pieces: the main body had begun to heal its wounds! The scientists were sure that the body would decompose once it lost contact with its brain. Instead it began to regenerate slowly, and now every exposed wound had closed up. What remained was a huge pile of living flesh that was growing rapidly each day.
As the baffled scientists studied the growth, the body stirred. Seven spines suddenly shot out of the body's back in a matter of seconds. The scientists were in awe, unaware of the chaos that was about to ensue. Two tiny hind legs followed then a tail. One huge front leg popped out on the right side, then a left one. The "corpse" stood up, supporting its weight on its front legs and tail while the smaller hind legs flailed about. A bump appeared between the creature's shoulders, and soon began to grow larger and longer. It opened, revealing three sets of teeth. It finally emerged, opening its large yellow eyes. The monster roared as horns began to jut out of his face: six on his nose, three above each eye, and two long, bull-like horns behind each ear. The monster roared again then looked at the puny humans. It smiled and quickly blasted them with a dark purple ray. They screamed in agony as the creature left, tearing a hole in the ceiling.

The ten scientists continued to wail as their bodies began to mutate and grow. Their hands lost two fingers, and the remaining three grew longer. Their legs were growing spikes and stronger bones. They felt their teeth growing larger and more serrated. Their hair fell out and was replaced by a crown of horns. By the time the mutation was over, each scientist had reached a height of 25 meters. They also had retractable claws and rough, purple skin, along with a craving for meat. Human meat.
The monster that mutated from Tyrantis's butchered corpse could smell his minions. He would call on them when they were needed. For now he would rest. He had a long journey of destruction ahead of him. The horror of OVDG had begun.

Chapter 2: SKELETON 1 vs. The Ogres

The remaining workers issued an SOS to the army then tried to keep the infected scientists away. It was to no avail. The monsters were able to claw their way through the steel of the base, and none of their weapons were of use. Hours passed with no response from the army. It seemed hopeless.
Suddenly the sound of a huge jet was heard. What seemed to be a human dropped from the air. The closer it came to the ground, the less human it looked. It was actually a 25-meter tall SKELETON robot; one of seven robots designed to stop the attacks of giant monsters. This was the SKELETON 1, code-named Gladiator. The robot had very little armor compared to the other SKELETONs, with only a gladiator helmet, large "boots", and a trident.
The robot surveyed its adversaries. There were now sixteen of the hideous beasts (six others were infected by the original ten). The monster could be called many things, but the first word that came to the SKELETON pilot's mind was ogre. If he survived, that's what he'd name them. He wanted to make the ogres' ends quick, seeing as they were once humans. The SKELETON quickly stabbed one of the ogres in the head, impaling the brain in three different spots. It collapsed in a heap, so he moved on to one of the other monsters. He stabbed it in the heart, but the creature kept coming. The pilot quickly caught on, and withdrew his trident only to hit the same ogre in the head. It died with a groan. The pilot continued on to the other ogres, making sure that he'd hit their brains. They were all dead within fourteen minutes.

However, several other workers had also been infected, and were just now mutating. The SKELETON pilot was about to leave when at least forty new ogres sprinted towards him. He knew that he couldn't take on that many warriors. But he would try.
The ogres suddenly stopped their pursuit. They all blinked then left in the same direction as the monster from before.
The SKELETON pilot sighed in relief, waiting for his ride home.

Chapter 3: The Dinosaur Monster Zombie

As always, Dr. Lerna and J.C. Clark were called in about the monster attack. Clark was sick of dealing with these things, but it seemed he could not escape his fate. Lerna, on the other hand, was thrilled with the subject.
"Gentlemen, we have another monster." General Bob announced to the room. He turned on a large TV, which had the security tape that showed the attack on Area Fifty-one. "The survivors of the incident say that they were studying the corpse of the first Tyrantis, which apparently has now transformed into an even larger monster. Furthermore, it has turned fifty-six government workers into monster as well, sixteen of which had to be disposed of." The general sighed, thinking about how crazy his speech sounded.

"Did any of the scientists studying the monster survive?" Lerna asked.
"No, the closer a person was to the monster, the less likely it was that they survived. The scientists were the first to die." The general sighed again.
Lerna thought to himself. What could have caused this mutation? How could a dead body heal itself, let alone mutate?
"J.C., what was the Omega Virus G designed to do?" Lerna questioned.
J.C. had to think fast. The way the virus was designed to cause death was very... unethical. He had no doubt that it was the cause of the mutation, but he couldn't let anyone know that. "Um.... well, it's a new species of the virus solanum made to cause... um... change in bone structure and extremely bad warts."
Lerna's face changed into a mixture of shock, disgust, and terror. "Solanum? The zombie virus? How could you do such a thing! That's the most evil idea I've ever heard, even from you!" "The zombie virus?" General Bob exclaimed, realizing that the world was getting even stranger. One of the other scientists stepped up and said, "I think I can explain. Solanum, also known as the zombie virus, is a disease that causes the host to die then reanimate as a ghoul or zombie with an unstoppable need to eat flesh. You see, the virus has to spread through the transfer of bodily fluids, like blood and spit. The disease can only reanimate organisms with a brain at least as complicated as a human's; thus the disease also makes the ghoul instinctually prefer human meat to animal. The virus makes the zombie self reliant, meaning it can survive as long as the brain isn't severely damaged. It has been well documented over the ages, but only those with access to Area 51, like I, or those who have witnessed an outbreak have any knowledge of the virus."
"Then how does Lerna know?" J.C. demanded.
"Dr. Lerna was recently given access to Area 51 for his new anti-monster project, just as you were for your Omega Virus projects." the other scientist stated.
General Bob sighed again. "So how was the Omega Virus G different from the original solanum species? I suppose that its geneology is vital in our battle against this monster."

"Well..." J.C. was very nervous now. "It is designed to reanimate the corpse, like the first virus. But it also causes a mutation that occurs in three stages. In stage one, the teeth of the zombie become serrated and the fingers begin to change into claws. In stage two the ghoul becomes larger, losing all its hair and fingernails, sharp bone claws pop out of the fingertips, and growing a second row of sharp teeth in each jaw. In stage three it grows some more, being around ten to twelve feet high. Its body barely resembles a human, with three rows of fangs, long fingers with huge claws, and spikes running down its back. A few hours after this point it begins to rot, and within three years it will decompose to the point that its brain can't support even undead life." Lerna was chuckling to himself at J.C.'s stupidity. "And you injected this virus into a creature that has now been proven to be at least as smart as man? A creature with a virus that allows it to regenerate enough fully healthy cells to replace an entire side of its body in a matter of seconds? You thought that making that into a bloodthirsty zombie would help?"
J.C. was really scared now. Everyone was made at him. "W-well, I though tha-at it was primitive enough that the virus wouldn't reanimate it."
"So now we have a gigantic, bloodthirsty zombie monster that can regenerate its body cells and thus can't decompose to death." General Bob replied, exhausted and a little confused. "Do we have any weapons that can stop it?"
"Yes." Dr. Lerna and J.C. Clark said in unison.

Chapter 4: Resurrected Monsters

"As we speak, sir, MechaTyrantis is being rebuilt. We've given him four more maser cannons, a new weapon called the triple maser lazer, more armor, and robotic arms for grappling." J.C. gleefully explained. "Here it is."
The government officials entered the catwalks of the Mecha Room, a place where all the anti-monster weapons were held. Below them, on the bottom floor, was MechaTyrantis. The cyborg had been given quite a few upgrades; every flesh part was covered in metal armor. The helmet/ faceplate on its head had glowing, robotic eyes, which allowed the pilot to have a better view of the action. Its natural teeth were hidden behind metalic buzzsaw teeth, which was far better at cutting into a monster's flesh. The living arms had been replaced with two maser cannons, each equiped with another mini buzzsaw. The tail was also replaced with a new robotic tail, which held the triple maser lazer. There were two maser lazers on a solar and wind generator on its armored back. The two side maser cannons and the mouth maser cannon remained, giving the monster a total of seven maser cannons and one triple maser lazer. The legs were also bulked up to support the monster's weight.
"Where are the robotic arms?" one of the scientists said.
J.C. smiled and yelled, "Display the grapple arms!"
Two thin robotic arms shot out from the cyborg's sides.
"Impressive." Lerna said. "Though you took all the beauty and charm out of him, but still very impressive. Now to my project."

The men entered a familiar room. In it were three giant tanks, two of which were occupied. Lerna pointed to one of the tanks.
"Thanks to the good people at Area 51, I've had some new DNA to fiddle with. This tank holds a monster that you may have read about a few decades ago. The dinosaur Gwangi, the only evidence for the legendary valley of monsters which shares the same name, has been resurrected. He is now larger and smarter, making him an ideal fighting machine. The other animal is the Rhedosaurus that attacked New York in the 50's, or better known as the beast from 20,000 fathoms, also larger and smarter."
"Are all the SKELETONs functional?" General Bob asked one of the scientists.
"Yes. In fact, SKELETON 1 just arrived a few moments ago." he replied.
"Good. Have the SKELETONS and these monsters stay and defend this city from attack. We'll send MechaTyrantis to fight... uh, what did we name it?"
"It hasn't been named, sir." Lerna chimed in. "But since it's a mixture of the Omega Virus D (or OVD) and Omega Virus G (or OVG), I'm thinking we should call it OVDG."
"Fine. We'll send MechaTyrantis after OVDG and pray that it can stop it."

Chapter 5: MechaTyrantis vs. OVDG

MechaTyrantis was now able to fly much faster since each maser cannon doubled as an engine. It still took a while to find OVDG, but luckily the monster was heading for San Fransisco. On the way, the pilot spotted three moving objects on the ground. They looked like giant snakes. He decided to ignore them. OVDG was a far more terrible monster.
OVDG was spotted after a few hours of searching. MechaTyrantis landed a few miles ahead of him and waited. OVDG ran towards him, then stopped in surprise. The monster roared with glee then charged MechaTyrantis.
MechaTyrantis dodged out of the way, then bit OVDG. Using the robotic buzzsaw teeth, MechaTyrantis quickly tore further into OVDG's sides as purple blood spewed out. OVDG screamed in pain. Those screams turned into laughter as the monster bit MechaTyrantis. However, the cyborg had his own tricks up his sleeve. Using one of his maser cannon arms, MechaTyrantis shot OVDG's bottom jaw right off. The monster wailed again. Now MechaTyrantis had made his way through OVDG's other side, and quickly clawed his way out. OVDG screamed then began to chuckle some more. The monster looked at MechaTyrantis then began to regenerate. MechaTyrantis charged up four of his maser cannons. However, before he could fire, OVDG charged again and swiftly knocked MechaTyrantis to the ground. The monster proceded to mercilessly pummel the cyborg with his massive forelegs.

MechaTyrantis blasted OVDG with a maser cannon then lifted himself off the ground. However, OVDG was relentless, and quickly smacked the cyborg in the chest. This blow disconnected the cockpit/escape pod from the rest of the robot, leaving everything up to MechaTyrantis's autopilot.
MechaTyrantis's mechanical eyes stopped glowing, revealing the real eyes that were hidden beneath. The Tyrantis behind the armor was confused. His body was heavier now, and his arms were much longer. OVDG smacked cyborg monster again, further adding to MechaTyrantis's confusion. The cyborg howled as he fell then struggled to get back up. OVDG wouldn't allow this, and quickly began to pummel the cyborg again.
MechaTyrantis was very beat up by the end of the "battle." OVDG laughed to himself, obviously happy with his works. MechaTyrantis lied there trapped in a gigantic suit of armor. As the forty ogres that the SKELETON 1 failed to kill walked past. He had failed.
The SKELETON 7, the fastest and strongest SKELETON, was sent to retrieve MechaTyrantis. The robot arrived an hour after the fight was over and picked up the crippled monster. They flew back to San Fransisco for a lot of repairs.

Chapter 6: Tyrantis Comes to Help

Dr. Lerna still communicated with Kraydi even after the dragon had "rebelled." Everyday at precisely four o'clock the giant monster would talk to him psychicly, asking if everything was all right. There was a sort of father-son bond between the two, a bond that Lerna respected. Today he needed Kraydi more than ever.
"Hello father. How are you and the others?" Kraydi questioned.
"Not so well, my friend. A giant beast has come to attack us. He's beaten MechaTyrantis, and I don't think your, uh, new brothers can hold him off." Lerna though in reply.
"What do you want me to do?" wondered Kraydi.
"Can you convince Tyrantis, Hydra, and King Croc to come to our aid? I think they will be enough." Lerna asked.
"I think they will do so with great pleasure." The dragon said. Then he was gone.

Kraydi trotted up to Tyrantis. The island was unusually quiet today. All seven of Hydra's heads were napping, King Croc was hunting with Spinalsaur, and Tyrantis was playing with his family.
"Tyrantis, I need to ask you a question." Kraydi said.
"Go ahead." Tyrantis replied.
"Well, the humans are being attacked by a huge monster. It's already defeaten their best weapon. They asked me if I could get you, Hydra, and King Croc to help."
"Why should I care?" Tyrantis growled. "All humans have ever done is hurt things. They hurt my brother, then enslaved him. They hurt Hydra. They hurt me. They tried to hurt one of my sons. Why should I help them?"
"Your brother, MechaTyrantis, was their best weapon. This monster pummeled him until he was almost dead, then left him to live with the shame. They dishonored him. You should stop this monster, if no to save hundreds of lives, then to defend your brother's honor."
Tyrantis did not reply. The monster simply stood up, put his babies back in their nest, and started towards the ocean. Kraydi chirped with glee then summoned Hydra and King Croc. The four monsters all began to swim towards a familiar land.
San Fransisco.

Chapter 7: Man’s Monsters vs. The Virus

MechaTyrantis was finally fixed. Luckily only a few of its cannons were damaged, and there were still back-up parts. The cyborg stood at the city's limits, along with each of the SKELETON robots and the two monsters that Lerna had contributed. Gwangi was restless. He was a viscous predator by nature, and just the thought of battle made him quiver with anticipation.
Rhedosaurus, on the other hand, was calm. He sensed it wasn't going to be a short fight and thus wanted to rest before it began.
The city had been evacuated, so nobody had seen the other monsters that had snuck in. Sucuriju Gigante, a giant emerald boa, and wrapped around the new Golden Gate Bridge (the original had been smashed by Tyrantis). Rattler, a giant rattlesnake, was hiding amidst the skyscrapers with Yellowback, a giant coral snake.
A faint roar could be heard in the distance. It got louder and soon it was loud enough to identify. Tyrantis had returned to help in the fight. Now the gargantuan dinosaur was visible, along with his three friends. Hydra hissed at King Croc as he swam ahead. Kraydi was floating, hoping that they could get done soon.
Another roar, much louder and scarier than Tyrantis', came from the other side of the city. OVDG was also on the scene. The monster was collossal in size, at least 150 meters tall. Forty ogres, who were much smaller in comparison, followed it.
The battle began.

Rhedosaurus and Gwangi made the first move. Both sprinted towards OVDG, biting the monster's sides ferociously. OVDG knocked them off with his elephant-like forelegs. He then proceded to pummel them mercilessly.
Tyrantis and the others were still making their way into the city, since none of them were known for great speed. Giant monsters generally don't walk fast.
The SKELETONs entered the fray. SKELETONs one, two, three, four, and seven ran towards OVDG. Five, code named mammoth, and six, code named Big Gun, were too slow to follow the others. They were designed to stay in one spot and fight. The other SKELETONs were far more nimble. SKELETON Four, a.k.a Samurai, slashed into OVDG's side as Gladiator (SKELETON 1) and Knight (SKELETON 3) attacked the ogres. Rhedosaurus and Gwangi were now free from OVDG's huge fists, so they decided to leap back into battle. SKELETON 7, known as Thanatos, flew above the fight.
Thanatos looked like the Grim Reaper. The robot even had a long flowing robe and hood, just for effect. Its primary weapon was an extended scythe, which could grow to lengths of 500 meters. The robot hovered above the fight, occasionally destroying an ogre or two. He knew he had to stay in top shape, in case any of the other robots need a quick escape. Thanatos was specifically designed to have arms and wings that could carry the weight of all the other SKELETONs combined, and thus could help almost any one of the fighters if they were in a tight spot.

Chapter 8: A Battle of Wits

Tyrantis, Kraydi, and the others were now inside the city. The three snakes followed them, sticking close to Hydra. Kraydi flew towards the fight, landing in front of OVDG. He tried to read the monster's mind.
"Hello. How are you?" Kraydi asked.
There was no response. Kraydi tried again. Still there was nothing. Then he felt it, a sort of tingling feeling on the back of his neck. It was a primordial instinct that told him to back away. He tried to read the monsters thoughts. Suddenly it reached out for him.
"Hello." OVDG said, his mouth twisting into a hideous smile.
OVDG's mental voice felt like millions of ants crawling up Kraydi's spine. Kraydi decided to communicate with it, no matter how disturbing it felt.
"How are you?" Kraydi asked.
"WE are just fine. Thanks for asking."
"We?" Kraydi was puzzled.
"Yes, we. You must realize that you are talking to a corpse. There is no single consciousness to this monster. WE are the viruses that hold it together. WE are what is making this cadaver think and move. WE are the consciousness that you are now talking too through metal projection. And WE are what's going to kill you."
"Oh, that's pleasant. However, from what I know of viruses, they aren't supposed to have minds. In fact, you aren't even considered to be living things." Kraydi said in the most polite voice he could think of.
"Yes, we se the miracle of our existence. And years ago they would have said that it would be impossible to make a psychic dragon. Years before that they would say that bringing dinosaurs back from the dead is impossible. We live in an age that proves that science can be, and often is wrong." OVDG replied.

"How did a corpse come by such wide vocabulary and knowledge?
"We was awake all the time. From when they harvested our usable body parts to when we broke free of that wretched prison, we were listening. We know about you. We know about Tyrantis. We know who won the superbowl. We know every stupid secret the humans at our prison tried to keep, and every cultural reference they blurted out. The humans don't deserve life, and neither do you. Only the viruses deserve this world."
Kraydi chuckled. "You've threatened me twice now. But what have you done to stop me?"
"Oh, we're waiting to kill you. You are the only thing close to our intelegence, and that is a large compliment. We will let you live out of admiration, at least until we're finished."
"Very reassuring. I, on the other hand, am not going to let up on you. I have an agreement to honor."
"Then may you fight with honor. I will show no mercy." OVDG cackled, then head butted Kraydi to the ground. The monster shook off Gwangi and Rhedosaurus then kicked SKELETON four, the Samurai, out of the way. He headed for the city.

Chapter 9: The Monsters vs. OVDG

MechaTyrantis' seven maser cannons were armed. He was about to fire when OVDG charged. The monster was surprisingly fast for its size. It quickly proceeded to pummel MechaTyrantis, severing the pilot from controlling the cyborg again. OVDG opened its mouth, revealing six rows of gigantic teeth. The monster tore off one of MechaTyrantis's arms. OVDG went for another arm, only to get knocked over by a huge fireball.
Tyrantis stepped forward. The dinosaur monster growled, then blasted his opponent with more fire. OVDG howled in pain. Its howls turned to insane laughter as the monster lunged to bite Tyrantis. Tyrantis recognized the attack and quickly ducked. The monster then bit OVDG's neck. Tyrantis began to generate flames in his mouth, and when he felt he had enough he released them into the wound he had made in OVDG's neck. There was a huge explosion that sent both monsters careening off in different directions.
Tyrantis was the first to stand up. MechaTyrantis, finally in control of his new body, landed beside him. OVDG finally got back on its feet, only to find that both of the monsters were already at its throat. MechaTyrantis blasted it with quick shots from his remaining maser cannons while Tyrantis tore at its body. The two mutated tyrannosaurs showed no mercy, using every weapon at their disposal to fight the monster.
By now almost all of San Fransisco had been destroyed. There were only ten ogres left, and OVDG was being thrashed by the two Tyrantises. The other monsters decided to join in the fray. All except Kraydi.

The yellow dragon looked at the damage that had been done to the city. It filled him with sadness to think that all these homes and jobs had been destroyed. It was truly a dark day for San Fransisco. But perhaps this sacrifice could be of some use. Using his telekinesis, Kraydi grabbed all the rubble and lifted it into the air. Then he put pressure on it, making each piece into a bullet. He lifted up the remaining ogres and compressed them into spears, which killed them in the process. He looked at OVDG, then roared to the others to get away. The other monsters agreed and quickly got away from the collossal brute. OVDG roared in triumph then spotted Kraydi. The dragon sent each bullet shaped piece of rubble and each ogre spear and OVDG. The gargantuan beast yelped in surprize then screamed in agony as wave after wave of sharp objects shot through his body. By the end of the attack OVDG was stuck to the ground by ten spears, hi body thoroughly destroyed. The monster wailed in agony.
The monsters weren't finished. MechaTyrantis was charging up his six maser cannons and the triple maser lazer, a weapon so powerful that he wasn't supposed to use it unless it was a dire emergency. Tyrantis was preparing a very large fire blast, and the SKELETON six, known as Big Gun, was charging up his triple maser lazer. The three fired their weapons at the same time. There was a huge explosion that destroyed the Golden Gate Bridge.
By the end of the explosion they was little left of OVDG. Most of the monster's bones were showing, and its top jaw was completely destroyed. The demonic beast fell into the water, defeated.
Tyrantis growled, then returned to the water. King Croc, Kraydi, Gwangi, and the Rhedosaurus followed. Hydra lagged behind.

"Hurry up Hydra! We must return home!" Kraydi insisted.
"Thanks, but I'm going back to the mountains with Rattler and the other snakes. They say they came here to find me. Apparently I have many younger brothers who are loose in the mountains." Hydra cheerfully replied.
"Brothers?" Kraydi asked.
"Yes, apparently each of the heads that were cut off from my body grew into new Hydras. Isn't that weird? Like I said, I'm going to go live with them. Call me if you need my help." Hydra responded.
"I will." Kraydi answered. He quickly got back to Tyrantis's side.
MechaTyrantis watched them wade out into the harbor. The monster roared in triumph, then headed back to the Daikaiju Museum in which he lived. The SKELETONs followed. It seemed like a perfect victory.

Chapter 10: Evil Doesn’t Sleep

OVDG's corpse had drifted out to sea. It was now drifting deeper and deeper into the Pacific Ocean. Suddenly it began to stir. The tongue of the monster moved. Suddenly two rips appeared on it, one of either side. Two eyes popped out inside those holes, and soon the tongue began to grow. OVDG's body began to regenerate, and soon it was whole again. The monster was still weak from the battle. It would lie and wait until it had an army again. The world had not seen the last of OVDG....

The End?
