A group of construction workers were tearing down the trees deep within the Amazon rain-forest. A low growl overpowered the sounds of the machines. Each of the construction workers looked up. The growl grew louder, and soon it was a bellowing roar. A large, red monster, the source of the roar, landed in the clearing. The monster was 50 meters tall when it stood on two feet. There was only one word that described the beast.
Dragon.
The monster had mainly red skin, except its hands, feet, and wings were black. The belly of the monster was covered in gold, silver, platinum, and precious gems. It had two red horns, two fin-like ears, and one fin-like crest between its eyes. The dragon's eyes were red and yellow. Its mouth was filled with two rows of sharp, dagger like teeth.
The dragon roared again. It blasted the machines with a green flame as the construction workers scattered. Only one man was left alive, even though he had been bathed in the fire. The dragon looked right at him.
"You alone are left alive. I wish for you to spread a warning. Tell your kind that my patience has worn thin. The human race has spoiled the world for too long. I will destroy every major city I see from this point on. Your kind must prove its worth to me, or your race will die. Now go."
The dragon flew off, heading towards Lima, Peru.
Two weeks had passed. The dragon swept across South America, making his way towards Mexico. No conventional weapons could penetrate his hide. Normally the US government would have intervened. However, the United States were reeling from heavy losses after OVDG attacked. The fight with OVDG had made every one of their robotic weapons useless, and the time (and money) it took to rebuild them and San Fransisco delayed their usability for quite some time. This took money away from the Giant Monster Fight Giant Monsters project (or GMXGM), so Lerna's most recent monsters weren't able to get the training necessary to make them docile and friendly towards mankind, making them more dangerous than helpful at the moment. Plus there was also the damage done by the fight between Chimera Queen, Armadon, and Tyrantis. It seemed to be a grim hour for the world.
Dr. Lerna, head of project GMXGM, knew better. Project GMXGM was still working, though the way it worked was so secret that only its leader knew it. Dr. Lerna waited for his daily conversation with Kraydi, one of the many monsters made by the project. The dragon viewed Dr. Lerna as his father and everyday it talked to Lerna, asking if the humans needed help.
Today they did.
Dr. Lerna explained the situation to Kraydi. The yellow dragon told Lerna that he would do his best to stop the rampaging monster.
In the Himalayan Mountains something stirred. A great, feathered serpent, also known as an amphithere, awoke from its long slumber. It heard the cries of pain from its people, the ones it had to abandon so many years ago. Quetzoalcoatyl, the flying serpent deity, realized he would have to leave his cave in Mt. Everest. He could not go to save his people for he was still banished from their land, but he could stop the monster that was attacking them.
The great green snake burst from its cave in the mountains and began to fly towards America...
Kraydi flew quickly across America, trying to find the dragon of death. He followed the scent of fire and brimstone and sure enough he found it, destroying the city of Dallas Texas.
"Who are you?" Kraydi shouted with his psychic powers.
Smowg's head swiveled up in amazement, looking at the yellow dragon with surprise. "I am Smowg, dragon of the earth and rocks, a beast of legend. What are you, yellow beast?"
"I am Kraydi, and my father told me that you are killing the innocent, something which I must put a stop to," the dragon replied.
"Innocent? These humans are not innocent. Every day they kill millions of creatures just to accommodate their own out of control population. They defy the laws of nature and have no respect for the lives that are destroyed by them. They even attack themselves, believing they are truly better than each other. They are pompous, careless monsters that deserve the death I've given them," Smowg snarled.
"My father is human and does not act in the way you say he does. Do you think you can describe a race this large with only a few words? There are many exceptions in this race of vile killers, and destroying them with the ones that do harm is a great evil on your part Smowg," Kraydi snapped back in defense of his dad.
Smowg glared at Kraydi for a while then smiled. The dragon spat some more green fire on the city, just to piss the other dragon off. "If you don't approve of what I'm doing, try and stop me!" Smowg laughed. The red dragon proceeded to destroy the city while an horrified Kraydi watched. The yellow dragon used telekinesis to knock Smowg down. Smowg crashed into a building and hit the ground hard, the debris landing on him. The dragon was furious, standing back up and jumping into the air.
A spectacular battle took place between Kraydi and Smowg. Kraydi dodged Smowg's fire breath and pummeled the dragon with telekinesis, occasionally taking some of the burning debris Smowg made and throwing it at him. It looked as though the red dragon was losing. But then Smowg roared very loud and charged Kraydi, knocking the dragon out of the sky.
Kraydi stood up and Smowg asked, "Where is your father, the 'innocent' man?"
"In San Fransisco, to the northwest," Kraydi answered.
"Thank you. I will burn the city to the ground. Farewell!" Smowg cackled. The dragon threw a large building on Kraydi and flew off towards San Fransisco...
Tyrantis awoke from his nap with a shock. His mind was ringing with Kraydi's cry of agony, and at once the dinosaur king knew what he had to do. He had to go back to San Fransisco.
"I'm getting really tired of having to do this," Tyrantis thought to himself.
The American government knew they had to do something about Smowg. No matter how feeble the effort had proven to be in the past, squadrons of jets were sent in pursuit of the great red dragon. Even though it was practically a suicide mission, many men still volunteered after seeing the horrors of Smowg's attack on Mexico.
The first squadron, which was code-named Alpha, rushed out at Smowg from within the Grand Canyon (The dragon was now in Arizona). They sent volley after volley of missles at Smowg, hoping that maybe this beast didn't have regenerative powers. Its screams of pain and anguish seemed to reassure them. A cloud of smoke and fire surrounded the dragon.
Then something very strange happened; the cloud began to shine! It looked like a black cotton ball that had been covered in gold glitter. As they watched the glitter began to fall out of the cloud and towards the planes! The "glitter" was actually a mammoth amount of gold, silver, and semi precious stones that had been stuck to Smowg chest until the missles knocked them free! The falling gold looked beautiful at first, but that idea died fast when one of the huge cold pieces struck one of the jets. The pilots screamed as one by one they were picked off; a giant diamond struck the wing of one plane while the shards of a ruby hit another like machine gun fire. The remaining pilots ejected from their planes. Some made it safely to the ground, but the valuable shrapnel that rained from the wounded dragon killed many.
The dust cleared to reveal a virtually unharmed Smowg. Only a few diamonds covered his chest, which was a problem. The dragon hissed and landed on the ground bellow. His body glowed as he touched the earth. When Smowg returned to the air his body was covered in gems and gold again. The spot where he landed was now a crater, and deep within it was the mark of Smowg.
The Army decided not to send another squadron of planes.
Hours later, Tyrantis found himself on the beach of San Fransisco once again. The great monster was depressed at the sight that lay before his eyes. It was no longer the beautiful, shining city he had known before. Now it was a wasteland; a pile of debris that could only brought up thoughts of death.
Only a few buildings still stood, one of which was the great daikaiju museum. Tyrantis sensed something was in that building which was troublesome, but that wasn't what was on his mind. "Where is Kraydi?" Tyrantis wondered.
A large explosion knocked Tyrantis out of his pensive state of mind. Smowg had arrived in San Fransisco and was saddened that someone else had beaten him to destroying the city. The dragon decided to destroy what was left of the rubble to vent his rage when he laid eyes on Tyrantis. Now his rage had a new vessel.
"Did you ever pick a bad time to come to this land, green one," Smowg snarled.
Tyrantis could smell Kraydi's blood on the dragon. The dinosaur kind roared in anger and released a ray of fire at Smowg, knocking the dragon onto the ground. Smowg got back up seconds after the blow, even angrier than before. The dragon flew towards Tyrantis like a well-guided missile. They collided and began to roll, scratching and biting at each other. Both reptilian monsters collapsed in a heap on the ground.
In a display of his great strength, Tyrantis threw off his aggressor and blasted him with three fireballs. The dinosaur ran towards Smowg and picked him up in his mouth, biting through the dragon's tough armor. Smowg wailed in pain and flailed his tiny arms in protest. Tyrantis's mouth began to glow orange as he unleashed one of his most powerful attacks ever: the fire bite. Tyrantis sent fire into the wound he had made in Smowg's hide, creating an explosion that propelled the yelping dragon into the air.
Smowg landed a few yards away, smoke and flame billowing from his wounds. The red dragon growled as his body glowed, and in an instant his wounds were healed. He roared and charged Tyrantis, slashing at him with his ruby claws. Tyrantis snarled and bit Smowg's left arm hard, breaking the dragon's bones. A loud CRUNCH echoed throughout the barren city as Smowg screeched. Tyrantis gave him no mercy and tore into the red dragon's chest with his mighty fangs. Smowg snarled and pushed his opponent away with one mighty flap of his wings. The dragon's mouth glowed an eerie green as Tyrantis stood up.
Kraydi arrived on the scene looking slightly disheveled. The yellow dragon hit Smowg with a psychic blast as Tyrantis trotted towards him, ready to fight once more.
Life in Grandville, Michigan was quiet and far away from giant monster attacks (well, at least it was to the knowledge of its citizens. So it must have confused the residents of the sleepy suburbs to see a large, feathered, winged green serpent soaring across their sky before disappearing in a flash of light. Quetzoalcoatyl was making his way to San Fransisco as fast as he could fly.
Tyrantis leaped upon Smowg, clawing at the red dragon while Kraydi made a huge boulder out of the debris of the city. When it was finished Tyrantis jumped off his foe, giving Kraydi a clear shot. Smowg hissed at Tyrantis just before being buried under rubble.
The red dragon jumped out of the rubble and flew after Kraydi, knowing Tyrantis couldn't get him in the air. Kraydi put up a mental shield to hold Smowg off while he telekinetically levitated Tyrantis. The green monster purred knowingly as Kraydi swiftly pulled Tyrantis through the air towards Smowg. Tyrantis hit Smowg like a rocket, sending the dragon straight into Kraydi's shield. The monster ricocheted off the shield and into the air. Kraydi sent Tyrantis right after him, hitting the red dragon multiple times in midair in a way that was very reminiscent of pinball.
Smowg, frustrated and pissed off beyond comprehension, unleashed a green stream of flame at Kraydi. The dragon ducked in fear, covering his head. One of the two horns on the right side of his head had been blown off by the fire, and to Kraydi's surprise it didn't regenerate! He saw Smowg aiming a blast at the falling Tyrantis. Kraydi pulled his friend out of Smowg's line of fire and continued the assault. Tyrantis attacked Smowg with a blast of flame as Kraydi propelled him through the air. Smowg would no longer fight tooth and claw. The enraged dragon fire blast after blast of green flame as Kraydi and Tyrantis dodged them frantically.
Suddenly a soft, comforting wind blew into the city. The sun shined brightly as Quetzoalcoatyl, the winged serpent, entered the area. His feathers gleamed in the sunlight. There was never a more beautiful sight then the king of the amphitheres.
Smowg growled and hit the gorgeous monster with a large blast of green flame, sending it crashing towards the ground in a fiery heap. In one anticlimactic blow the plumed serpent was sent out of the sky. "Not this time brother. I will not let you stop me again!" Smowg roared.
Kraydi was stunned at the dragon's cruelty. He took Tyrantis and landed to inspect the fallen serpent. Smowg turned his attention back to his foes and growled. He swooped towards them, charging another blast of fire and aiming at Tyrantis. Kraydi saw him and flew in front of his best friend just as Smowg unleashed his deadly flame, blasting a hole right through Kraydi's chest. The yellow dragon's eyes bulged and rolled over in his sockets as an unfamiliar calmness engulfed his mind: the calmness of death.
Tyrantis looked and Kraydi's corpse then at the body of the feathered serpent. The monster's eyes welled up with tears as his large pupils took a predatory slit-like shape. His eyes burned with intense anger as he looked at Smowg, who was stunned at Tyrantis's pissed off aura. The angry dinosaur roared so loud that he knocked Smowg out of the sky. So much flame was growing in his throat that it glowed orange, and when he finally opened his jaws to release it exploded out like a shotgun shell, knocking Tyrantis backwards. An inferno of flame, ten times larger than the monster it had been stored in, engulfed Smowg and sent him further and further into the ground. It continued to pour out of Tyrantis's mouth, disintegrating his teeth and causing his tears to evaporate.
By the time the horrific blast was over, Smowg was four miles away. The red dragon was whimpering as his charred scale began to peel off. He released a great cry of agony as the still angry Tyrantis, who had just regenerated his teeth, came closer and closer.
Smowg's cry was heard miles away, far in the Pacific Ocean. Two great eyes opened for the first time in centuries as Leviathan, the king of the sea, rose from his slumber. The sea serpent had two tiny horns and two fin-like ears on his head. A large, seaweed-like mane stretched from his neck to the tip of his tails. He had two diminutive wings on his back and four flippers on his body. The gigantic sea monster had heard his brother's call for help and came towards him with great speed.
Tyrantis was about to finish Smowg off when Leviathan arrived. The dragon was huge, at least five times larger than Tyrantis himself. It moaned and swished its tail, creating a great tsunami that knocked Tyrantis out. Smowg stood up and brushed the ash off of his skin. He shed his scales and chirped at his big brother happily then began to charge a ray of fire to finish off Tyrantis.
"Enough!" yelled a voice from within the city. Quetzoalcoatyl had survived Smowg's flame and just now awoke from his unconscious state. He looked at Smowg with fury. He looked at Tyrantis, then at the corpse of Kraydi.
"What the hell has gotten into you?"
"They got in my way brother," Smowg stated cooly.
"Sure they did. Did you forget the prophecy, brother?" Quetzoalcoatyl snarled. "These two are our bretheren! 'From mankind's lack of foresight a host of beasts shall emerge, three of which shall join the ancient ones to form the pact of six dragons. The Dragon of Wind (me), The Dragon of Earth (you), The dragon of Water (Leviathan over there),'" Leviathan smiled as his youngest brother mentioned his name. "'The Dragon of Fire, The Dragon of Intelegence, and the Dragon of Nature.' The yellow one that you killed is the Dragon of Intelegence, and the green one bellow us is the Dragon of Fire! Are you set of killing your brothers, Smowg? Is that why you targeted me?"
"You hurt Quetzoalcoatyl?" Leviathan snarled at Smowg.
"Well... he startled me," Smowg lied through his sharp teeth.
"You really made a mess. I'm taking you with me to the Himalayas." Quetzoalcoatyl hissed. "But first..."
The feathered serpent flew up into the air, his body glowing in a heavenly way. Feathers of pure light fell to the ground. Some hit Tyrantis, and in a flash of light his wounds healed. Others hit Kraydi, healing the wound in his chest. The rest of the feathers hit the ground, and instantly new buildings grew from the rubble along with great trees between them. The City of San Fransisco had been restored to life and now looked better than ever!
"Now we can go," Quetzoalcoatyl said to his brothers. All three of the dragons disappeared in a flash of light, heading towards the Himalayas.
Hours later, Tyrantis opened his eyes. He was surrounded by a beautiful city. He looked towards the one familiar structure, the daikaiju museum. It rumbled as three monsters broke out of its roof and began to run out of the city, smashing things as they went. Tyrantis grumbled and closed his eyes.
"I'll sleep for a few more minutes then solve that problem," he thought to himself as he drifted back into unconsciousness.
