| In 1971, the Smog Monster, Hedorah, arrived on Earth and began wreaking havoc on Japan. Godzilla soon arrived and battled Hedorah, forcing it to retreat into the sea as the Monster King followed in hot pursuit. Just after this battle took place, Dr. Yano, a Japanese scientist discovered that Hedorah had a weakness, that being strong heat or electrical current, which could dry the Smog Monster's sludgy form out by dehydrating it. Dr. Yano notified the JSDF and they quickly built a twin set of Giant Electrodes in Hedorah's path on the Japanese countryside. As Godzilla and Hedorah battled, Hedorah actually walked between the Giant Electrodes and it seemed as if victory was in hand, but during their battle, Godzilla and Hedorah had knocked down the power lines that were supplying the electrodes with electricity. However, Godzilla soon returned and using his radioactive heat ray, was able to power the Giant Electrodes and dry out the Smog Monster, ending Hedorah's threat. | |
