| Born on December 7, 1979, Ayako Fujitani is the young star of all three Heisei Gamera films. In Gamera: Guardian of the Universe, Gamera 2: Advent of Legion, and Gamera 3: Awakening of Irys, she plays the young woman Asagi Kusanagi, a girl who has a special connection to the film's giant turtle star: Gamera. This connection between the two gives Gamera strength in his battles against monsters such as Gyaos, Legion, and Irys. The connection has its downside though, whenever Gamera becomes wounded in battle, at least at first, Asagi also sustains the same types of wounds. The Gamera films have thus far been Ms. Fujitani's greatest roles, although she has also starred in other films by director Shusuke Kaneko like 2000's "Crossfire". Ayako Fujitani is also the daughter of the famous actor, Steven Seagal. | |
