As Gamera continued to "grow" as Director Kaneko put it, in 1996’s “Gamera 2: Advent of Legion”, his appearance took on a kinda of awkward teenage look. The shell became larger and slanted forward a bit, forcing suit actor Akira Ohashi to lean forward as well when acting in the suit. The face took on a leaner look and had a mean expression on it, but still retained several qualities from the 1995 suit and the eyes became slightly smaller. The retractable elbow claws were no longer retractable and stuck out of each elbow. The head was also made smaller and the design of the shell was changed. The hands also took on a more “webbed” look and the frill on top of Gamera’s head became slightly larger. The color of the suit also changed to a darker shade of green than before.
