The original Gyaos, featured in 1967’s “Gamera vs. Gyaos” was made to look fierce, but also had to look appealing to children. Gyaos had large eyes that just stared out at you, a large flat head with a triangular mouth, bat-like wings with three claws on each wing, and Rodan-like talons on the feet. The suit also had a large, flat tail and a ribbed chest. The suit was colored a dark reddish brown color. The portrayal of Gyaos was about the same as Rodan, but the actor within had much more control over the wings when on the ground. I’m not 100% sure if this is true or not, but I believe this suit was refurbished, repainted, and used to portray Space Gyaos in 1969’s “Gamera vs. Guiron”.
