Synopsis
The synopsis is very similar to the plot of 1968’s Destroy All Monsters, in which Earth’s kaiju, controlled by an alien force, escape from Monster Island to lay waste to major cities all over the planet. You then assume the role of a monster who managed to escape the alien control and armed with a full repertoire of punches, kicks, grabs, throws, combos, and specialty moves like Godzilla’s radioactive heat ray and King Ghidorah’s anti-gravity beams. You then go out and do battle with all of the controlled kaiju in several different game modes and cities, with the army attacking you if you destroy more of the city than your opponent!
In adventure mode, you select one monster and try to defend each city from the other monsters. You'll learn that not only do you have to know the moves/combos of each monster, but how to fight in different areas of each city to be successful. You don't want to be standing around the natural gas or electrical plant when it explodes, for example. There will also be special hidden features and areas in certain cities. Adventure Mode is also the only mode you can play to unlock additional characters, cities, and gallery items. There is also a Versus Mode and Team Battle Mode for multi-player action, select your battle area from the ones available and then go at it with up to four players! In all of these modes, power-ups are dropped into the area by alien ships and hidden within city buildings, providing health and other enhanced abilities. There is even a Destruction Mode where you and other players go through a city and destroy everything in site during a time limit, earning points!

Controls
There are very simple controls for this game, press B to kick, A to punch, A+B allows you to grapple then like a wrestling game, you move the controller a different direction to execute a different move. This will also be a game combo system that almost anyone can pick up and play, starting of with a simple three-button combo, but as you play you learn that there are more advanced combos you can do with different button presses and/or directional control. As for the special attacks, they will be different for each character, but to active them you use the Z button. There are jumps and blocks in the game as well.

My Opinion
Hands down the best Godzilla game of all time. Almost all of my favorite kaiju are in this game (minus Gorosaurus and Gamera), the game-play is excellent and easy to figure out, and the cities as well as the monsters are incredibly detailed. Its great to just pick up a monster, throw it straight into a building, and watch the entire thing crumble down. My only real complaint is that they could’ve included more monsters instead of having two versions of Godzilla and two of King Ghidorah. Granted Mecha-King Ghidorah IS technically a different monster, but the game-play between the two was so similar that I though we could’ve seen kaiju like Gorosaurus, Titanosaurus, or SpaceGodzilla in this game. Oh well, still gets a 9 out of 10 on my rating scale.
