For Godzilla’s 50th Anniversary film in 2004, Godzilla: Final Wars, director Ryuhei Kitamura wanted to include Godzilla’s American version, GINO, in the film along with the rest of the cast of Showa kaiju. Since Toho owned the image and rights it was a synch to get him in. And since they wanted “Zilla” as he would be known in the film to be totally CGI like GINO was in 1998, they scanned an image of the Trendmasters large scale GINO figure and then refined the 3D image in the computer. So in the end Zilla looked pretty much exactly like the original version. When asked about the inclusion of his Godzilla design in “Godzilla: Final Wars,” Patrick Tatopoulos said that he was thrilled that his creation was going to be in the film. He's been a Godzilla fan since he was a child so he completely understands why fans don't care for his version of the character and had no illusions about what was going to happen when Zilla fought Godzilla.
