The 1964 film “Mothra vs. Godzilla” brought about one of the most famous and most liked versions of the Monster King, Mosu-Goji. Regarded today by many fans as the best of the series, this version was less bulky and had less reptilian features than the previous King-Goji version. The face was softened and made to look a bit more mammalian, the snout was shortened, and the eyes took on a more malevolent appearance. Finally, the tail of this version was lengthened and made a bit more elegant. This version, with slight alterations, a new, sturdier head, and the addition of a prominent tongue, was also used in the next Godzilla film, “Ghidrah: The Three-Headed Monster”. After this film, the suit was replaced by a new version, Daisenso-Goji, but Mosu-Goji wasn’t finished yet. The suit was used by Eiji Tsubuyaya and “Tsuburaya Productions” to create the monsters Gomess (Ultra Q) and Jiras (Ultraman), but Jiras had Daisenso-Goji’s head and Mosu-Goji’s body.
