This version of Godzilla, Soshingeki-Goji, was used in four films (“Destroy All Monsters”, “Godzilla's Revenge”, “Godzilla vs. Hedorah”, and “Godzilla vs. Gigan”). Over the previous few films, Godzilla's depiction had become that of a hero battling in defense of the Earth, so the people at Toho wanted to make Godzilla appear even more child-friendly. This time they slimmed down the suit to fit suit actor Haruo Nakajima better and give him more mobility for battling, just like they had done for the suit in “Godzilla Raids Again”. The head was enlarged and rounded, and the neck became longer than previous versions. The pupils of the suit were slightly reduced, the mouth was widened, the dorsal fins were reduced/rounded, and the tail was shortened. The overall effect gave Godzilla a more human appearance. This was the most used suit in the Showa Godzilla series and this was very evident in the suit’s final appearance in “Godzilla vs. Gigan”, for in one scene (the one where Godzilla is on top of Gigan and punching him) you can actually see pieces of the suit go flying off.
