The version of Godzilla, Megaro-Goji, was used in the films “Godzilla vs. Megalon”, “Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla”, and “Terror of MechaGodzilla”. Now that Godzilla was 100% the hero of Earth, much to the dismay of Western fans, Godzilla needed an even friendlier look than the previous version! This new suit, weighing only 88 pounds thanks to the use of lighter materials, was similar to the previous suit, and yet different (got that?). The dorsal plates did not shrink or enlarge, but were given a sort of “balloon-like” look and the smaller side rows became almost non-existent. The suit’s head was enlarged and the eyes were made absolutely huge to appeal more to children. In “Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla” and “Terror of MechaGodzilla”, the look of Megaro-Goji was somewhat hardened as Godzilla began to revert to a more serious image. Other than that, this version was basically the same except for the more silvery sheen given to the dorsal plates.
