Mini Biography
Born on December 21, 1957, Tsutomu Kitagawa was the first man to put on the Godzilla suit since Kenpachiro Satsuma retired from playing the mutated dinosaur in 1995, after "Godzilla vs. Destroyah". However, before reaching this prestigious point in his career, Kitagawa first graduated from Sakuragaoka High School before joining the Japan Action Club in January of 1975. Following this, he played the costumed actor for the Blue and Black Rangers in many of the Toei Company's Super Sentai Series in the 1980s up until 1994. Then, after retiring from the Sentai Series, he was hired by Toho Studios to portray Grand King Ghidorah and Cretaceous King Ghidorah in the 1998 film “Rebirth of Mothra”. Toho really liked his work and decided to have him portray Godzilla in the following year’s “Godzilla 2000 Millennium”. Kitagawa has now played Godzilla several times and is the main Godzilla actor of the Alternate Reality series of films. He has played Godzilla in "Godzilla 2000 Millennium", "Godzilla X Megaguirus", "Godzilla X MechaGodzilla", "Godzilla X Mothra X MechaGodzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.", and most recently, "Godzilla: Final Wars". Also, aside from playing Godzilla in GFW, Mr. Kitagawa was also the action coordinator for the film and was in charge of the film's kaiju battles.
