King Kong 2005
Kong`05

Played by: Andy Serkis & CGI

In 2005, Director Peter Jackson remade King Kong once again, but this was far more spectacular than the 1976 remake. Jackson wanted his Kong to look completely realistic and to do this; he and his crew employed the latest in CGI and motion capture technology. Kong would be completely digital in this film, no stop-motion animation, no suits, nothing. To do this, Jackson turned to actor Andy Serkis, who had provided the voice and movement for The Lord of the Rings' fully digital creature Gollum. Serkis spent months researching gorilla behavior, including time in a Rwandan nature preserve, and brought what he learned to the set. ''I was in a gorilla muscle suit, up on ladders and cranes to give me height,'' says Serkis. Following principal photography, Serkis spent two more months on a motion-capture stage, miming Kong's movements for the film's digital animators. Getting Kong’s movements down, they had to work on the look. Kong was to look like a real-life silverback Gorilla, just like those found in Africa and he did. However, Jackson had his animators cover Kong with battle scars, broken teeth, and patches of missing fur, showing that the mighty ape had been in many battles on Skull Island with other predators. Overall the latest version of King Kong is an incredible one and I don’t really see how it will ever be topped.
