For Godzilla's 50th anniversary film in 2004, "Godzilla: Final Wars", the serpent kaiju Manda returned to the big screen after not being seen since the late 1960s. Manda returned looking much like his original version featured in the 1963 film "Atragon" and was portrayed through both a marionette and CGI. The horns on his head returned, but instead of hair lining his back, there were now long spikes that ran down the length of Manda’s spine and the backs of his four legs, which were now a bit larger than they had been in the past. Also, Manda now had a membrane running down either side of his body, which was probably to aid in swimming. Overall, Manda was one of the better looking kaiju in GFW, it’s just a shame he didn’t receive much screen time.
