Manda was created for the 1963 film “Atragon”. This was not a man in suit kaiju though, it was a five meter long marionette controlled by long wires. Manda was made to look like an ancient Chinese dragon, long and serpent-like. The marionette had several features that supported this, such as four short legs with four hawk-like claws on each foot, four long horns on the sides of his head, cat-like eyes, long fangs, a row of hair running down the length of his snake-like body, and whiskers on his face. The body was covered in diamond scales and the underbelly was ribbed and snake-like.
