Played by: Hirofumi Ishigaki and Motokuni Nakagawa
This latest incarnation of MechaGodzilla, featured in the 2002 film “Godzilla X MechaGodzilla”, is probably the most incredible since the original. This version, played by new suit actor Hirofumi Ishigaki, seems to combine both the Showa and Heisei versions and adds a bit of a retro look to make this MechaGodzilla look incredible. The most notable difference between this version and the previous two is the very long tail, while the Showa and Heisei MechaGodzilla's had very short tails as well as the much larger dorsal plates. Thanks in part to the bones of the original Godzilla, which were within. This also gave MechaGodzilla’s teeth a real look to them as they were actually teeth for once. The same design was refurbished and used again in the sequel to Godzilla X MechaGodzilla, “Godzilla X Mothra X MechaGodzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.” in 2003. Except now the design was darker in color and had a sort of “welded look” to it, not as shiny as the previous year (probably to show wear and tear from fighting Godzilla). Also, the backpack and right arm had to be redesigned (since they had been destroyed), the right arm was now more robotic-looking and could change into a spear. The backpack went from purple to black and was much smaller than the previous one used in Godzilla X MechaGodzilla. This MechaGodzilla was portrayed by another new suit actor, Motokuni Nakagawa.
