MARCH 2000

GIGAN

Gigan made his debut back on March 12, 1972 in the film "Godzilla vs. Gigan". In this film, Gigan, a cyborg kaiju, first came to Earth along with King Ghidorah under the control of the cockroach aliens from Nebula Space Hunter M in order to conquer the Earth. The two space monsters were to destroy all human life, so that the cockroach aliens could take over and repopulate the planet for themselves. Gigan and King Ghidorah were sent to Tokyo to begin the destruction of Earth, but were confronted by Godzilla and Anguirus. Anticipating Godzilla’s interference in their plans, the aliens had the space monsters lure Godzilla and Anguirus to their base, the new theme park dubbed “Children’s Land”, where they had erected a tower that resembled Godzilla. Gigan and King Ghidorah succeeded in luring them two monsters to the base and Godzilla was nearly killed by the destructive weapons within Godzilla Tower, but the JSDF managed to destroy the tower, saving the Monster King. Gigan and King Ghidorah then attacked Godzilla and Anguirus once again, but were soundly defeated by the two Earth monsters, sending both space kaiju fleeing into space. A year later, Gigan returned to aid the monster Megalon in battle against Godzilla and Jet Jaguar. The space cyborg and his new partner actually came close to defeating Godzilla and his new ally, but were eventually defeated by them and send back into space once again.

Gigan stands at a height of 65 meters and weighs 27,500 tons. This space cyborg is a very unique kaiju with hammer claw hands that he uses to demolish any manmade structure or enemy in his way. Gigan also boasts a cranial horn, scythe-clawed feet, and three membranous dorsal sails for flight at Mach 3. It's most effective weapon, however, is the buzzsaw-like cutter on it's abdomen, which he uses to slice into his opponents. Gigan also sports a tooth-lined, hooked beak below a single, visorlike red eye. Despite it's formidable armament, Gigan's coward-like attitude may be it's weakest point. Gigan is happy to attack an opponent who is dazed or back is turned, but it will flee it the tide of the battle turns against him.

APRIL 2000

ANGUIRUS

Anguirus made his debut back on April 24, 1955 in "Godzilla Raids Again". In this film, Anguirus, a mutated ankylosaurus that is rumored to have risen out of a heavily polluted lake, first appeared in 1955 on the shores of Iwato Island, battling Godzilla. The two kaiju eventually tumbled off a cliff and into the ocean, chasing each other all the way to Osaka, where Anguirus was defeated and apparently killed by Godzilla. However, the mutated ankylosaurus either revived or another of his kind later returned as an ally of Godzilla and incarcerated on Ogasawara Island. All was peaceful on the island for a while, but soon the Kilaaks came along and took control of the Earth monsters, setting them loose on all the world’s major cities. Anguirus joined Godzilla in attacking the JSDF while under the Kilaak's control, but later joined the rest of the kaiju after the Kilaak control was terminated, in defeating King Ghidorah and saving the planet. Four years later, Anguirus joined Godzilla in saving the Earth from the alien cockroaches from Nebula Space Hunter M and their monsters, Gigan and King Ghidorah. After that battle, Anguirus returned to Ogasawara Island and until MechaGodzilla arrived on Earth in disguise as Godzilla. Knowing this Godzilla was a fake, Anguirus confronted MechaGodzilla and lost, but succeeded in alerting the real Godzilla to MechaGodzilla's threat, and the monster team of Godzilla/King Seesar took out MechaGodzilla. After Anguirus retreated from his battle with MechaGodzilla, he tunneled his way back to Ogasawara Island, where he has remained ever since.

Anguirus stands at 60 meters tall, is 100 meters long, and weighs 30,000 tons. Because of his realistic depiction and never-say-die attitude, Anguirus retains a strong following amoung kaiju fans all over the world. Possessing no energy rays or special weapons, Anguirus relies on his teeth, spikes, tail, claws, and hard carapace in battle, but relies mostly on his fierce fighting spirit. One of Anguirus's most devistating battle tactics is to hurl himself backwards, impaling his opponent with the spikes on his carapace.

BIOLLANTE

Biollante made her debut on December 16, 1989 in "Godzilla vs. Biollante". In this film, after Godzilla returned in 1984 and attacked Tokyo, he was lured to the volcanic Mount Mihara and sent toppling into the molten lava below. The Japanese government then began to rebuild their once great city, but first had to cleanse it of Godzilla’s radioactive flesh, which was found to have interesting properties. Dr. Shiragami, a famed Japanese scientist, was put in charge of a division that was trying to combine the regenerative abilities of the G-Cells with plants in order to enable the dry, baron nation of Saradia into a land of produce. However, terrorists learned of this and bombed the lab where Shiragami was working, killing his daughter and destroying the G-Cells. In a crazed state of mind, Shiragami attempts to preserve his daughter’s soul by combining some of her DNA with a rose. However, in 1989, the rose bush was destroyed in an earthquake and Shiragami quickly rushed to again save his daughter’s soul. Forced by this to give his knowledge of Godzilla’s cells to the government so they could develop an Anti-Nuclear Energy Bacteria. In exchange for his knowledge, Dr. Shiragami was allowed access to the remaining G-Cells, which he combined with the cells of the rose bush to again save Erica’s soul. This proved to not be such a great idea, for the resulting creature soon escaped into nearby Lake Ashino. The next day, a large rose emerged from the lake, complete with fangs and vines with fanged heads. At the same time, Godzilla was released from Mount Mihara by a terrorist bombing and sensing his “clone”, headed straight for Lake Ashino, where he defeated Biollante after a short battle, setting the plant monster on fire with his radioactive heat ray. Biollante was reduced to nothing more than golden energy spores that disappeared into the night sky, leaving Godzilla alone to wreak havoc across Japan. Godzilla attacked Osaka and was injected with Anti-Nuclear Energy Bacteria, hoping it would destroy him, but thanks to his cold-blood, he was unaffected. Godzilla later encountered the Biollante for the second time along the shore of the Pacific Ocean, this time in her final stage. Godzilla and Biollante fought a fierce battle, but in the end Godzilla was the victor as he sent a blast of his radioactive heat ray right down the throat of Biollante, tearing out much of the plant monster’s back. Again defeated by Godzilla, Biollante once again dissolved into the golden energy spores and returned to the skies above and began to hover over the Earth in the atmosphere.

The first stage of Biollante, the Rose stage, stood at 85 meters tall and weighed between 66,000 - 110,000 tons. The Biollante Rose's only weapons were it's vines, some equipted with teeth and acid spray. The final stage of Biollante stands at 120 meters tall and weighs 220,000 tons. Barely mobile on its root-like legs, under duress the plant kaiju will uproot itself and travel on land with surprising speed. Biollanye is capable of lashing out with vines and tendrils or spitting a stream of radioactive acidic sap and its thorny spikes could pierce through even Godzilla's thick hide.

JUNE 2000

TITANOSAURUS

Titanosaurus made his debut on March 15, 1975 in "Terror of MechaGodzilla". In this film, Titanosaurus, a giant, aquatic dinosaur who is shy and retiring by nature, was discovered by the mad scientist Dr. Mafune, who placed him under his control, and planned on using him exact his revenge on all of mankind. Before he could set out to do this, however, the alien apes from the Third Planet in the Black Hole approached Dr. Mafune, asking for Titanosaurus to help them in their second attempt to conquer Earth. Mafune agreed, but grew steadily impatient in waiting for the alien apes to rebuild MechaGodzilla so they could attack, so he sent Titanosaurus out without their permission. The aquatic dinosaurs attack a city along the coast, but was soon attacked and apparently defeated by Godzilla. Later, Titanosaurus returned alongside MechaGodzilla in attacking Tokyo, destroying much of the city before Godzilla arrived to battle them. However, the two monsters were able to temporarily defeat the Monster King, burying him in the soft Earth. Help soon arrived in the form of an Interpol helicopter armed with a sonic transmitter, sonic beams being Titanosaurus’ only known weakness. The sonic transmitter kept Titanosaurus busy while Godzilla recovered and attacked MechaGodzilla, eventually destroying the rocotic kaiju once and for all. Godzilla then turned his attention back to Titanosaurus, blasting the aquatic dinosaur with his radioactive heat ray and sending him toppling over a cliff and into the ocean, never to be seen again.

Titanosaurus stands at 60 meters tall and weights 33,000 tons. He is an excellent swimmer thanks to his webbed tail and walks on land just as well as any kaiju. Titanosaurus is a very colorful dinosaur with vivid red, with yellow and black markings over his bumpy hide. Titanosaurus has no rays or beams, but is still a very good fighter. He uses his teeth and claws, with an occansional head-butt or upper cut. He can also leap great distances and uses his fanlike tail to create whirlpools in the water or create hurricane-force winds on land. Titanosaurus has one weakness, however, he can't stand super sonic waves.

JULY 2000

HEDORAH

Hedorah made his debut on July 24, 1971 in "Godzilla vs. Hedorah". In this film, Hedorah, a gigantic, mobile pile of sludge, was created when an alien spore from space landed on Earth in 1971 and combined with Earth's overpowering industrial waste. Two by two, the Hedorah tadpoles meet and unite, growing larger and larger until they eventually form a single, humongous being. At first confined to the sea, Hedorah attacked and fed off of large oil tankers, which he destroyed. However, he soon evolved the ability to crawl onto land and begin feeding off factory smoke stacks and anything else that created pollution. Godzilla soon arrived and after a brief battle, forced the Smog Monster back into the sea, but this was only the beginning of the struggle between Godzilla and Hedorah as they fought back and forth all across Japan. Hedorah soon was able to transform himself into a flying form and flew over Japanese cities spewing sulfuric acid mist from his body and disintegrating every living thing unfortunate enough to be caught in his path. Finally, the ultimate Hedorah appears as a towering, bipedal creature, still able to transform into its flying form and back at will. Eventually, Godzilla and Hedorah engaged in a final battle at Mount Fuji, however, the battle was not going in Godzilla’s favor. Every time Godzilla attacked, nothing would affect the Smog Monster, not even the Monster King’s radioactive heat ray, for it was deflected and diminished by the alien mineral content of the Smog Monster's body. Finally, the JSDF intervened, building two giant electrodes to try and dry out Hedorah, they lured him to the electrodes, but were unable to destroy him do to a power failure. However, Godzilla returned to destroy Hedorah by using his radioactive heat ray to power the electrodes, creating a radioactive current that dried out Hedorah's body and destroyed the Smog Monster once and for all.

Hedorah stood at a height of 60 meters and weighed 52,800 tons in his final form. Seemingly invulnerable to conventional attack, punches go right through him with no perminent damage. Godzilla's radioactive heat ray is even deflected and diminished by the alien mineral content of the Smog Monster's mass. Hedorah's crimson eye beam is also very powerful as well as his acidic sludge. Hedorah's one weakness, however, is dehydration - a weakness that allowed human technology to combine with the power of Godzilla to finally end Hedorah's reign of terror.

AUGUST 2000

GOROSAURUS

Gorosaurus made his debut in the year 1967 in the film, "King Kong Escapes". In this film, Gorosaurus had a brief confrontation with King Kong, after he tried to devour Lt. Susan Watson, part of a UN submarine crew. Gorosaurus and Kong fought a fierce battle, ending with the giant ape breaking the mutated dinosaur’s jaw and seemingly killing him. However, Gorosaurus later turned up as one of the ten kaiju incarcerated on Ogasawara Island. Once the alien Kilaaks took control of the kaiju, Gorosaurus was sent to Paris and laid waste to the French city. But after the Kilaaks lost control of the monsters thanks to the crew of the Moonlight SY-3, Gorosaurus took an active role in the final battle against King Ghidorah at Mount Fuji, using his kangaroo kick to take down the space monster once and for all. After the battle, Gorosaurus, along with the other nine kaiju, returned to Ogasawara Island, where he remains to this day.

Gorosaurus stands at a height of 50 meters and weights roughly 20,000 tons (DAM stats). Since Gorosaurus is devoid of energy weapons, he relies on his teeth, claws, and agility in battle. His strongest attack is his kangaroo kick, where Gorosaurus rears back on his tail and lashes out with both feet. The force of this blow is so great that Gorosaurus has even knocked down King Ghidorah by using this tactic!

SEPTEMBER 2000

EBIRAH

Ebirah made his debut in the year 1966 in the film, "Ebirah: Horror of the Deep" aka "Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster". In this film, Ebirah first appeared near Letchi Island in the south Pacific, probably mutated by radiation from the Red Bamboo's atomic plant on that island. Ebirah was the Red Bamboo’s "guard dog," used by the terrorist organization to prevent their slaves from Infant Island from escaping the island. Ebirah always stayed close to Letchi Island, attacking any ship that came to close to "his" island. However, Ebirah’s reign of terror would be brought to an end when Godzilla was awakened from his slumber in one of the island's caverns and attacked the giant lobster, fighting him on two separate battles. In the first confrontation, Godzilla forced Ebirah into retreat, but in the second, Godzilla tore Ebirah's pinchers off and forced the giant lobster to retreat once again, this time for good. Godzilla then fled the island as well, escaping the nuclear explosion that consumed Letchi Island completely. Ebirah hasn't been seen since, except within the dreams of a young Japanese boy named Ichiro, but he could still be lurking somewhere in the ocean depths.

Ebirah stands at a height of 50 meters and weights approximately 25,300 tons. Ebirah's only weapons are his strength and pinchers, but he is also a very good swimmer and an excellent underwater fighter.

OCTOBER 2000

DESTROYAH

Destroyah made his debut on December 9, 1995 in the film, "Godzilla vs. Destroyah". In this film, a tunnel construction project in Tokyo Bay disturbed the area where Godzilla was thought to have been killed in 1954 by Dr. Serizawa's Oxygen Destroyer. However, the Oxygen Destroyer had an unforeseen effect, the weapon had also revived a colony of microscopic Precambrian crustaceans, who were now awake thanks to the construction. These creatures, which are later dubbed Destroyah, soon began to gather and transform into increasingly larger and more menacing forms, then they began to attack and destroy everything in sight! At the same time, the JSDF is trying to figure out a way to stop Godzilla's meltdown. Soon they come up with the idea to lure Godzilla to Tokyo to do battle with Destroyah, hoping that the transforming kaiju would kill Godzilla before his meltdown could take place. However, Godzilla Junior soon appeared and it was decided to lure him to Tokyo and Godzilla would follow him. So Junior was lead to Tokyo by G-Force psychics Miki Saegusa and Meru. Once he arrived, Godzilla Junior attacked Destroyah as it soared around in its flying form, but the crustacean kaiju transformed into its aggregate form and nearly killed Junior by injecting the young kaiju with Micro-Oxygen. Junior's body fought back, however, and he was able to temporarily defeat Destroyah as Godzilla arrived in Tokyo. Godzilla and Godzilla Junior greeted one another, but Destroyah soon interrupted the reunion in its final form, grabbing Junior and lifting him into the air, then dropping him on the Haneda Airport, bringing the young kaiju close to death. Enraged, Godzilla attacked Destroyah and the two kaiju battled viciously, their blood soaking the empty streets of Tokyo as they fought. Although Destroyah possessed power sufficient enough to push Godzilla to the brink of defeat, the combination of Godzilla's out-of-control radioactivity and an all-out assault by the JSDF plus the Super X3 finally ended Destroyah's threat.

Destroyah, in his final form, stood at a height of 120 meters, was 230 meters long, had a wingspan of 210 meters, and weighed 88,000 tons. Being composed of several incredibily strong weapons, Destroyah was really able to bring it to the monster king when they battled in 1995. Destroyah used his laser horn and micro-oxygen ray, as wel las his tail, teeth, wings, and claws to rip into Godzilla and almost defeat him... but we all know how that one ended.

NOVEMBER 2000

RODAN

Rodan made his debut in December of 1956 in the film, "Rodan". In this film, Rodan, a mutated dinosaur like Godzilla, first appeared in 1956 when he and his mate emerged from Japanese coal mines near Mount Aso. The two Rodans first snacked on a swarm of giant, dragonfly larva dubbed Meganurons before beginning their reign of terror across nations bordering the Pacific Ocean. After attacking the Japanese city of Fukuoka, the two Rodans flew to the volcanic Mount Aso to rest, but were attacked by the JSDF. The JSDF’s weapons caused the volcano to erupt, the lava consuming both mutated pteranodons. However, the male Rodan managed to survive the molten lava and went dormant until 1964, when he reappeared from Mount Aso and battled with the returning Godzilla along the Japanese countryside. Meanwhile, the three-headed monster, King Ghidorah, was attacking Japan, laying waste to the country. Knowing the threat that King Ghidorah was to Japan as well as the entire planet, the Twin Fairies of Infant Island called Mothra to try and persuade the battling Godzilla and Rodan to fight King Ghidorah. The two monsters wouldn’t cooperate at first, but finally they came together along with Mothra to defeat the space monster, forcing King Ghidorah to retreat back into the blackness of space. A year later, aliens from the newly discovered Planet X tricked the Earth into trading Godzilla and Rodan to them so they could rid their world of King Ghidorah, in exchange for a miracle drug to cure all disease. The Xians took control of Godzilla and Rodan and sent them to destroy Earth along with King Ghidorah. However, scientists discovered a way to defeat the Xians by crippling them with a high-pitched sound while using A-Cycle Light Rays to free Godzilla, Rodan, and King Ghidorah from their control. After the Xians were destroyed, Godzilla and Rodan attacked King Ghidorah, the three battled until they all fell off of a cliff and into the ocean. Only King Ghidorah emerged, fleeing back into space. After defeating King Ghidorah, Rodan was not seen until he was lured to Ogasawara Island and imprisoned there by a magnetic wall. Rodan seemed quite happy with this new environment, until the alien Kilaaks came and took control of all the monsters on the island. Rodan was sent to destroy the Russian capital of Moscow and then obliterated Tokyo with the help of Godzilla, Mothra, and Manda. Later, the monsters were freed from Kilaak control by the crew of the Moonlight SY-3 and gathered at Mount Fuji to attack the Kilaaks. King Ghidorah appeared and took on all the monsters, Rodan fought valiantly and then took to the skies, watching his kaiju companions destroy King Ghidorah. Rodan then returned with the other kaiju to Ogasawara Island, where he remains to this day.

Rodan stands at a height of 50 meters, has a wingspan of roughly 120 meters, and weights approximately 16,500 tons. Rodan has no offensive weapons, but can create hurricane winds by flapping his wings and sonic booms while in flight. His beak, horns, and talons are also very effective grappling weapons.

DECEMBER 2000

ORUGA

Oruga made his debut in December of 1999 in the film, "Godzilla 2000 Millenium". In this film, Oruga, a mutation type kaiju that is part alien and part Godzilla, appeared on Earth in 1999. When the alien ship Oruga came from was brought to the surface of the ocean by the Japanese government, it began to come back to life and respond to the solar energy from the sun. Eventually, the UFO took off and headed for Godzilla, who was moving to attack a nuclear power plant. Once the UFO arrived, it scanned Godzilla, taking a liking to his G-Cells and attacked the King of the Monsters, knocking him back into the ocean with its powerful plasma cannon. However, Godzilla had damaged the UFO with his radioactive heat ray and the UFO was forced to absorb more solar energy before heading for Tokyo, where it absorbed information from Japanese computer systems, learning all about the Earth. Godzilla soon came, looking for revenge against the UFO and the two began their long battle. At one point, the UFO managed to bury Godzilla under the rubble of a fallen building and absorb some of his regenerative cells, enabling the alien entity within the UFO to create a body for itself. But this did not go too well, and the Millennian alien’s original chosen form was mutated when the G-Cells wouldn’t cooperate with the alien DNA, creating the monster Oruga. Then, seeking to fully absorb Godzilla to complete its transformation, Oruga attacked Godzilla and the two fought a fierce battle. With their regenerative powers healing one another whenever they were injured, the battle looked as if it would go on and on, but when Oruga opened his mouth wide and tried to absorb Godzilla by swallowing him whole, Godzilla was able to prevail by destroying Oruga from within with his radioactive heat ray.

Oruga stood at a height of 50 meters and weighed somewhere in the area of 30,000 tons. Oruga's only offensive weapon was his plasma beam that was discharged from his shoulder. This weapon was very powerful and never failed to knock Godzilla down. Oruga's other weapons included his huge hands/claws, his jaws, and he was able to jump long distances.
