ZIGRA

Zigra made his debut in the 1971 film, "Gamera vs. Zigra." In this film, Zigra, a member of a race of sea-faring creatures from the fourth dimension, traveled to Earth as a scout for his race, which was intent on taking over the Earth to make it their new home and use humanity for food. He began his attack on Earth by first attacking the moon, specifically a moonbase, which he blew up and abducted the sole survivor, a Japanese girl who Zigra made into his slave by taking over her mind. However, Zigra makes the mistake of attacking two small children and Gamera arrives, attacking Zigra’s spaceship while it’s underwater. The spaceship explodes and Zigra emerges, somehow growing to kaiju-size and attacks Gamera, freezing him with his paralysis beam. Now with Gamera out of the way, Zigra issues the world an ultimatum, surrender the Earth to him and his people or else he will kill two scientists and their children, who he has captured in an underwater bathoscope. However, during the night, a thunderstorm’s lightning revives Gamera and quickly rescues the trapped humans before engaging Zigra in battle once again. After a bloody underwater battle, Gamera drags Zigra onto land, where he defeats Zigra by frying the aquatic space kaiju with his flame, reducing Zigra to ashes and saving the world once again.

The space kaiju Zigra stood at a height of 80 meters and weighed 75 tons. Zigra, while not a very good fighter on land, could be a deadly opponent in water. With his paralyzing energy beam, razor fins, and tooth-lined beak, he really took it to Gamera underwater when they battled in 1971. However, once Gamera figured out that Zigra couldn't stand light, he took the space kaiju to the surface where he was weaker, ultimately leading to his demise.

LEGION

Legion made his debut in the 1996 film, "Gamera 2: Advent of Legion." In this film, a large meteor storm strikes Japan and it brings a new threat to life on Earth with it, a species of creature that would later become known as the Legion. These human-size, silicon-based insect creatures first appear in Sapporo, planting and caring for an enormous seed pod within the city’s subway system. It was soon discovered that this seedpod would launch a Legion egg back into space, sending it to another world that the space monsters could conquer while completely obliterating the area in which it was fired, just like a nuclear bomb. However, that plan was put to an end by the arrival of Gamera, who destroyed the seedpod before it could fire, but was also attacked by a large swarm of the “Soldier Legion,” who wounded Gamera and then drove the Guardian of the Universe. Once Gamera left, a kaiju-sized Legion emerged from underground and flew off into the night sky, being pursued by JSDF fighter jets who managed to shoot the monster out of the sky, leading them to believe the giant Legion was destroyed. However, the Soldier Legion soon reappeared in the city of Sendai, where they had once again planted a seedpod, but when Gamera arrived to stop the alien creatures again, the giant Legion reappeared and attacked him. The two kaiju battled back and forth, keeping Gamera busy while the seedpod gathered energy so it could launch. So when the time came for the pod to launch, both the giant Legion and the Soldier Legion fled, leaving Gamera, who managed to topple the seedpod to prevent it from launching into space, but was not able to prevent its detonation. In the explosion, the entire city of Sendai was consumed, leaving nothing by a massive crater in the ground and the charred body of Gamera, who appeared dead, near the epicenter. Having been thwarted by Gamera twice now, the Legion next appeared in Tokyo. The space monster released the swarm of Soldier Legion to aid it in its attack on the JSDF while back in Sendai, Gamera was able to revive by summoning the energy of the Earth's mana and with the help of his human connection, Asagi. Gamera then took off and intercepted Legion before it could reach the JSDF’s last line of defense and a vicious battle ensued, with Legion usually getting the upper hand of the Guardian of the Universe. While Gamera battled the Mother Legion, the JSDF managed to lure the swarm of Soldier Legion into a giant electrified fence, where they were destroyed. So finally, with the Soldier Legion now gone, Gamera summoned up as much of the Earth's mana into his body as he deemed necessary and the shell on his chest opened to fire a large destruction beam that finally destroyed Legion, turning it into nothing but ashes.

Legion stood at a height of 140 meters, was 160 meters long, and weighed 600 tons. Legion had a large variety of weapons and abilities that he used to nearly defeat the Guardian of the Universe, Gamera. These included a powerful concussion beam from his internal horn, laser whips, horns, sharp mandibles, flight at Mach 1, the ability to generate a force field as well as the ability to burrow underground. legion was also capable of commanding the Soldier Legion.

MARCH 2005

GODZILLA
Final Version

The "Final" version of Godzilla made his debut in the 2004 film, "Godzilla: Final Wars." In this film, the seemingly indestructible monster Godzilla, a result of H-Bomb tests in the south Pacific, first made his appearance on an island near the Japanese mainland in 1954. Godzilla soon made his way toward the Japanese capital of Tokyo and completely destroyed the city, but was destroyed himself by a new weapon known only as the oxygen destroyer, or so everyone thought. Godzilla soon returned and again wreaked havoc on Japan until the 1960s, when Godzilla and the aerial battleship Gotengo battled in Anarctica. Godzilla eventually blasts the ship with his radioactive heat ray and knocks it to the ground. However, as he approaches the ship, the ice begins to crack beneath him. A crevasse then opens up beneath the King of the Monsters and Godzilla falls in. Seeing their opportunity, the Gotengo fires missiles into a nearby mountain and the resulting avalanche buries Godzilla alive as it fills the crevasse.
Fast forward to the near future, a century of nuclear tests and modern warfare, as well as unchecked scientific advances, have resulted in serious damage to the planet’s environment. These events have also caused the creation or revival of many giant monsters. To combat these monsters, the nations of the world decide to set aside their petty differences and combat these monsters, forming the Earth Defense Forces in order to face this crisis, with their biggest enemy being Godzilla himself. In the past that the EDF has battled and defeated the likes of Varan, Gezora, Gaira, Baragon, Titanosaurus, and Megaguirus. However, one day several monsters suddenly appeared and attacked cities all over the world, only to suddenly disappear in giant flashes of light in the midst of their attacks. It is soon discovered that this is being done by UFOs and after getting rid of the monsters, they all converge on Tokyo and form one gigantic ship. These aliens, called the Xiliens, convince the people of Earth that they are here to aid humanity by warning Earth about an impending danger, that the Planet Gorath is currently hurtling toward Earth and will destroy the planet unless all of Earth’s weapons are concentrated and fired at Gorath at one time. However, the Xiliens true intent is soon revealed: Gorath is a lie and they have come to Earth to make humans their food, for the Xiliens must consume the mitochodrate in human beings to survive. They also control all of the monsters that were attacking the cities, having reconstructed their DNA to include the M-Base, something that the Xiliens also have in their bodies, so that they could control them. The monsters are then once again unleashed upon the cities that they were attacking, thousands of Xilien fighters also attack, and the mummified monster Gigan is awaked by the Xilien leader and also attacks.

Meanwhile, a plan is formed by the few survivors and they take the Gotengo down to the South Pole and release Godzilla, who is trapped in the Antarctic ice thanks to the old Gotengo and is not under the control of the Xiliens, so that he may battle the monsters. The ship succeeds and Godzilla is freed, but not before Gigan arrives and strikes down the Gotengo. Godzilla rises and quickly defeats Gigan before turning his attention to the Gotengo and begins chasing it, thinking that his fight with the battleship back in the 1960s is still on, and follows it over land and sea. Godzilla, in his quest to destroy the Gotengo, eventually arrives in Australia, New Guinea, and finally Japan. Along the way he battles and defeats the monsters Zilla, Kumonga, Kamakiras, Anguirus, King Seesar, Rodan, Hedorah, and Ebirah before finally arriving in Tokyo.
In Tokyo, the Xiliens summon a seemingly smaller Gorath and the “planet“ flies toward Earth. Godzilla senses its approach, digs his heels in, and fires his radioactive heat ray straight upward at it. Godzilla’s ray finally destroys the planet and bursts in a huge explosion over Tokyo. The city is basically left in ruins and as the smoke clears, Godzilla is left standing alone in a giant crater. However, Monster X suddenly floats down behind Godzilla and the two monsters begin battling. Monster X gets a slight upper hand and throws Godzilla to the ground, but Mothra suddenly arrives and knocks Monster X back with her wings. The Xilien leader quickly sends a repaired and upgraded Gigan after Mothra, who slices off part of one of her wings, knocking her out of the sky before joining Monster X in battling Godzilla. However, Mothra soon recovers and flies back to assist Godzilla, knocking both Gigan and Monster X to the ground. Gigan then turns his attention back to Mothra and the two kaiju battle once again, eventually ending with both kaiju seemingly destroyed in a large explosion. Meanwhile, Godzilla and Monster X continue to battle, firing their beams at one another until the beams meet, resulting in a huge explosion that nearly knocks them both off their feet. The monsters then begin battling with tooth and claw again, with Godzilla eventually gaining the upper hand, beating Monster X into the ground, basically defeating him. The Monster King’s dorsal plates then begin to glow as he prepares to fire his heat ray, but instead of striking Monster X, he strikes the Xilien Mothership. Monster X then slowly crawls to his hands and knees, but his eyes suddenly begin to glow. His arms, legs, and body expand and from his shoulders spring two heads that match the center, and all three are extended on long necks. The body turns dark gold and grey, the tail splits and wings fold out of the back. Monster X has transformed into Kaiser Ghidorah, who quickly unleashes its attack on Godzilla.

Each of the beast’s three heads unleash powerful gravity beams that strike Godzilla and also lift the King of the Monsters off the ground. The beams lift the Godzilla and rotate him onto his side, then begin to dragging him back and forth across the ruins of Tokyo. Kaiser Ghidorah then brings the weakened Godzilla close to him and sinks all three sets of jaws into Godzilla’s flesh. Kaiser Ghidorah’s body then begins to glow as it drains the life-force from Godzilla‘s body. However, the Gotengo hovers nearby after destroying the Xilien Mothership. Onboard, mutant turned powerful Kaiser-being Shinichi Ozaki senses that there is something he can do with his newfound abilities and his body begins to glow, as does the Gotengo, which fires a beam into Godzilla that reenergizes him. Godzilla’s dorsal plates begin to glow as his energy returns and he quickly unleashes a blast of his radioactive heat ray, blowing Kaiser Ghidorah’s middle head off. The three-headed monster reels in pain and releases Godzilla, who grabs one of the heads as it tries to blast him with a gravity beam, aiming the head at another head and severs it. Now, with only one head left, Godzilla grab‘s Kaiser Ghidorah's body and slams it into the ground multiple times. Godzilla then tosses Kaiser Ghidorah into the air and unleashes a super-charged red blast of his radioactive heat ray that completely destroys Kaiser Ghidorah in a large explosion. The explosion also damages the Gotengo and sends it crashing to the ground. Now with Kaiser Ghidorah destroyed, Godzilla spots the Gotengo and advances on it as its crew emerges. Godzilla stops and looks directly down at the humans and is about to unleash his radioactive heat ray, but suddenly Minilla runs through the ruins of Tokyo and places himself between Godzilla and the Gotengo. After a few tense moments, Godzilla turns and begins to walk away and Minilla follows. Godzilla and Minilla then swim off into the sunset together.

For the film "Godzilla: Final Wars," Godzilla stood at a height of 100 meters and weighed 55,000 tons. In this film, Godzilla was an extremely powerful fighter, easily defeating his opponents and sometimes doing it in mere minutes of the battle's beginning. Godzilla would use his tail, teeth, claws, speed and strength to overpower his opponents, his super regenerative powers to heal himself, and would ultimately finish off his opponents with his radioactive heat ray when it was necessary.

APRIL 2005

GIANT CONDOR

The Giant Condor, sometimes known as Ookondru, made his debut in the 1966 film, "Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster" aka "Ebirah: Horror of the Deep". In this film, the Giant Condor appeared as Godzilla battled Ebirah on Letchi Island in 1966. The monster bird is assumed to have been mutated just like Ebirah was, that being radiation leakage and nuclear waste from the Red Bamboo’s heavy water factory. After Godzilla sent Ebirah retreating off into the ocean after their first conversation, Godzilla headed for the center of the island where he proceeded to rest, but that was interrupted by the Giant Condor, who viciously attacked the Monster King without provocation. However, after a brief battle, Godzilla dispatched the Giant Condor with a point-blank blast of his radioactive heat ray, mortally wounding the monster bird and sending it crashing into the ocean where it was presumed to have died.

The Giant Condor stood at a height of 15 meters, had a wingspan of 25 meters, and weighed 2,500 tons. The Giant Condor was very agile in flight, but not a very effective fighter. Devoid of any offensive beam weapons, the Giant Condor had to rely completely on close-range attacks, using his wings, beak, and talons to attack his foes. The ferocity of the Giant Condor's attack even caught Godzilla off guard, but this was perhaps only because Godzilla was in a state of rest before receiving a sneak attack from the giant bird. However, in the end the Giant Condor was just simply too weak to withstand the power of the Monster King and was ultimately dealt a dead blow courtesy of Godzilla's radioactive heat ray.

The body turns dark gold and grey, the tail splits and wings fold out of the back. Monster X has transformed into Kaiser Ghidorah...

Kaiser Ghidorah quickly unleashes its attack on Godzilla. Each of the monster's three heads unleash powerful gravity beams that strike Godzilla and also lift the King of the Monsters off the ground. The beams lift Godzilla and rotate him onto his side before beginning to drag him back and forth across the ruins of Tokyo. In its first stage, Monster X stood at a height of 120 meters and weighed 60,000 tons. This strong space kaiju would employ its great strength, teeth, claws, and tail in battle to overwhelm its opponent before finishing them off with its gravity eye beams. However, when overpowered by Godzilla, Monster X changed into an even more powerful form, Kaiser Ghidorah. Kaiser Ghidorah stood at a height of 140 meters, was 150 meters long, and weighed 100,000 tons. This massive kaiju would use its own weight along with three sets of tooth-lined jaws, strong necks, twin tails, claws, and its ability to fly to take down its opponents. Also, if need be, Kaiser Ghidorah would rely on its gravity beams that are expelled from its mouths, are capable of inflicting damage and can also lift opponents into the air. However, in the end, Kaiser Ghidorah was destroyed once and for all by the King of the Monsters, Godzilla.

JUNE 2005

GAPPA

The triphibian monster Gappa made his debut in the 1967 film, "Gappa: The Triphibian Monster". In this film, a Japanese expedition to an unnamed island in the South Pacific returns to the mainland with a strange baby kaiju called Gappa. Mother and father Gappa soon realize that their child is gone, however, and fly to Japan from their island home in search of the their child. The Gappa monsters terrorize the Japan countryside as they attack city after city and the JSDF can do little to against them, not even sonic waves, Gappa’s weakness, can stop the monsters. Finally, realizing that they can do nothing else as the Gappas begin to attack Tokyo, the Japanese return the baby Gappa to its parents. Now reunited, the family of Gappas fly off, returning to their island home in the South Pacific.

Since there were three Gappas overall, I will give the stats of the father Gappa. Father Gappa stands at a height of 50 meters and weighs roughly 30,000 tons. When battling an opponent or when defending its young, Gappa will employ his claws, teeth, beak, and horns. Gappa also has the capability of using a powerful heat ray.

JULY 2005

GODZILLASAURUS

In the beginning, Godzilla was thought to be a revived form of aquatic dinosaur that was awakened by hydrogen bomb tests in the Pacific Ocean. However, in the film "Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah," Godzilla's true origin was revealed. When then Futurians traveled back in time to “save” Japan from the threat of Godzilla, it was revealed that Godzilla was once a normal dinosaur, but was mutated into what he is today by hydrogen bomb tests. The dinosaur, dubbed Godzillasaurus, was first revealed in 1944 during an American attack on a Japanese garrison on Lagos Island. Godzillasaurus viscously attacked the Americans who were invading his territory and killed all that were on the island, but was taken down by heavy artillery fired from the nearby U.S. naval ships. Godzillasaurus then retreated back to the jungle, mortally wounded, and lay down to die. However, the nuclear tests that were later performed on the island mutated the comatose dinosaur into the original Godzilla. However, the Futurians went back in time and attempted to alter history by teleporting the wounded Godzillasaurus to the future and into the Bering Sea, away from any nuclear tests. However, the Godzillasaurus was still transformed into Godzilla anyway when an accident in the Bering Sea involving a nuclear submarine mutated Godzillasaurus into a bigger and far more powerful version of the Monster King.

Before mutating into the Godzilla we all know and love, Godzillasaurus was just you're average carnivorous dinosaur. Godzillasaurus stood at a height of 12 meters and weighed 60 tons. Just like most dinosaurs, Godzillasaurus had your basic weaponry for survival in the cretaceous, strong jaws and teeth, claws, and a powerful tail.

Check out this section in August, when the Kaiju of the Month will be... BAGAN!

AUGUST 2005

BAGAN

Bagan, the kaiju that never was, was originally going to be featured in the first version of “The Return of Godzilla” in 1984. The plot for this film would have gone something like this; Godzilla is revived after nine years thanks to covert nuclear-waste-dumping in the ocean. However, as soon as he awakens, he must confront the new kaiju Bagan, a shape-shifting kaiju that adopts unique forms on land, sea, and air. Godzilla’s battles with Bagan are mostly one-sided, with Godzilla inflicting damage time after time, and Bagan regenerating himself be taking on a new form. Then, after Godzilla renews his strength by destroying a nuclear power plant and absorbing the radioactivity within, he finally defeats Bagan. With Bagan now gone, Godzilla becomes the big threat to mankind and attacks Japan. Meanwhile, a scientist has discovered a new element called “Reiconium,” which possesses super nuclear energy. Far more powerful than nuclear energy, its potential as a weapon is so great that the scientist refuses to use it against Godzilla. Only after witnessing Godzilla’s aftermath, and with pleas from his daughter, does the scientist finally agree to use the Reiconium against Godzilla. Radiation is used as bait to lure Godzilla into the trap and the scientist sacrifices himself to detonate the Reiconium device, which defeats Godzilla. Months later, Godzilla’s lifeless body washes ashore near a nuclear power plant. Suddenly, the Monster King’s eyes open and he bellows, revived by the radiation. So basically after the monster vs. monster part of the film, the rest of the movie would have become a rehash of the original Godzilla (1954) film’s plot. However, this idea was ultimately thrown out in favor of the more serious and anti-nuclear version of “The Return of Godzilla,” but Bagan would continue to resurface in several story proposals through the 1980s and 1990s.

So a few years later, after “Godzilla vs. Biollante,” Toho prepared to give Godzilla a rest and revive another old monster. So in 1990, pre-production work began on a film called "Mothra vs. Bagan". This story would have taken place not only in Japan, but also in China, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Several designs were submitted for the new monster Bagan, as well as a number of storyboards detailing much of the monster action. However, when "Godzilla vs. Biollante" didn’t perform well enough at the box office for Toho's liking, it was decided to cancel this project and instead continue on with the Godzilla series with a revived old favorite, King Ghidorah. The plot for “Mothra vs. Bagan” would’ve gone something like this; Long ago in ancient China, the vicious monster Bagan stalked the land. The Chinese called Bagan a living god, the feared protector of the small creatures of the forest. However, in present times, Bagan is merely a legend found in an ancient collection of Chinese poetry, where prophecy foretells the return of the vicious monster when evil rulers begin to destroy the land. Soon, however, the prophecy becomes true as global warming causes Bagan's glacial tomb in the Himalayas to melt away, releasing the ancient kaiju upon mankind, which he wants to destroy. However, as Bagan is freed from his burial place, a gigantic egg is discovered, soon hatching to reveal a Mothra larva, another ancient monster, this one of peace, left behind by an alien civilization to protect the world if Bagan ever returned (new origin). Mothra then transforms into her adult form and battles Bagan, but the ending was never revealed (just try and guess who would’ve won). Bagan would be considered again for later films, but the only time he would ever actually show up in a Godzilla-related project would be in the 1993 Super Godzilla game for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System as the main boss. Bagan will more than likely never see any time on the big screen.

Well since Bagan never made it to the big screen, we can only speculate to what his powers and abilities may have been. Here is a rundown of his stats from the Super Godzilla video game (some are guesses). Bagan stood at a height of 150 meters and weighed 280,000 tons. His weapons included a heat ray, horn beams, energy stars, super regenerative powers, claws, teeth, and horns.

SEPTEMBER 2005

CRETACEOUS KING GHIDORAH

Cretaceous King Ghidorah and its elder form, Grand King Ghidorah, made their debut in the 1998 film, "The Rebirth of Mothra III". In this film, Grand King Ghidorah’s young form first arrived and attacked the Earth 130 million years ago in the Cretaceous period. “Cretaceous” King Ghidorah wasted no time and quickly exterminated the dinosaurs and almost every other life form on Earth. Its mission complete, Cretaceous King Ghidorah then encased himself within a meteor and left the Earth, using the life-essence of the creatures he had destroyed to live as he traveled through space. Then, during a meteor shower in 1998, the meteor containing the three-headed monster crashed into the Mt. Fuji region, releasing the adult, “Super Dragon” King Ghidorah upon the world. Mothra wasted little time in attacking Super Dragon King Ghidorah, but was totally overpowered by the space kaiju. So then with the aid of her priestess Moll, Mothra traveled back in time to battle the young Cretaceous King Ghidorah, when he wasn’t so powerful. The battle was a fierce one, during which Mothra actually severed one of Cretaceous King Ghidorah’s tails and the tail burrowed into the ground to eventually mature into Super Dragon King Ghidorah in the future, unknown to Mothra. Cretaceous King Ghidorah was then defeated when Mothra used a paralyzing powder on him and dropped the young kaiju into the then active volcanic Mt. Fuji, seemingly destroying Cretaceous King Ghidorah...

Cretaceous King Ghidorah stood at a height of 40 meters, had a wingspan of 50 meters, and weighed 20,500 tons. In its battle with Mothra in Earth's prehistoric past, Cretaceous King Ghidorah employed several weapons trying to defeat the giant moth such as fireballs from all three of its mouths, flight at mach 3, hurricane winds, teeth, claws, regeneration. However, Mothra was still able to defeat Cretaceous King Ghidorah, but did not completely end the creature's reign of terror just yet...

OCTOBER 2005

GRAND KING GHIDORAH

Grand King Ghidorah and its younger form, Cretaceous King Ghidorah, made their debut in the 1998 film, "The Rebirth of Mothra III". In this film, after attacking the Earth and its life forms 130 million years ago in his young form, Cretaceous King Ghidorah, the adult Grand King Ghidorah returned to Earth and once again attacked, this time going after humanities children as a food source. The space kaiju only preyed on children at first thought, later going after adults. Grand King Ghidorah did this by flying over Japan’s cities, transporting his living prey to the inside of a pulsating feeding dome hidden within the Fuji forest. Mothra soon arrived to battle the three-headed monster, but was completely overpowered. So then with the aid of her priestess Moll, Mothra traveled back in time to battle the younger form of Grand King Ghidorah, Cretaceous King Ghidorah. Mothra apparently defeated him, but one of the space monster’s tails had been severed during the battle and overtime, grew into Grand King Ghidorah, who just appeared one day later than he did originally in 1999. However, back in the past, Mothra was near death after the battle with Cretaceous King Ghidorah and was encased in a silk cocoon by three ancient armored Mothra caterpillars. Meanwhile, back in 1999, the space monster was once again collecting his prey, now with nothing to oppose him. However, the ancient cocoon containing Mothra cracked open, revealing her as a new, more powerful Armor Mothra. Armor Mothra and Grand King Ghidorah then went at it, but now that the armor allowed Mothra to withstand Ghidorahs attacks, Armor Mothra was able to quickly destroy Grand King Ghidorah once and for all.

Grand King Ghidorah stood at a height of 60 meters, had a wingspan of 80 meters, and weighed 50,000 tons. In its battle with Mothra, Grand King Ghidorah employed several weapons trying to defeat the giant moth such as anti-gravity beams from it's three tooth-lines mouths, hurricane winds, a light barrier, energy bolts from wings, teeth, claws, flight at mach 3, and the capability to regenerate its wounds. Now while these abilities were enough to defeat Rainbow Mothra, they were no match for the far more powerful Armor Mothra, who defeated Grand King Ghidorah with ease.

NOVEMBER 2005

MAJIN

Majin, or DaiMajin as he is sometimes called, made his debut in the 1966 film, "Majin: Monster of Terror". In this film, when the evil man Samanosuke killed the Lord Hanabusa long ago in Medieval Japan, he took the dead lord’s lands as his own. He then began to exploit the land’s peasants, ignoring the legend of the warrior-god Shino. It was thanks to Shino that the evil demon Majin was imprisoned in a stone statue on an isolated mountainside. After Samanosuke killed Lord Hanabusa, the survivors of his family fled and hid near the shrine, trying to rally the peasants against Samanosuke. However, Samanosuke soon sends his men to destroy the statue, placing a huge spike against the statue's head with the intent of destroying the symbol of the resistance, but instead of crumbling, the statue actually bleeds. The evil men quickly flee from the statue, but Majin suddenly causes winds to sweep men off the mountain. Majin also creates a large crack in the ground, which swallows up the demolition crew. Majin then proceeds to Samanosuke's fortress, destroying anything that gets in his path. However, after destroying all of Samanosuke’s possessions, including the man himself, the evil Majin began to attack the peasant village. Finally, the tears of the innocent Princess stopped Majin’s attack as they fell upon the demon’s foot as he prepared to crush her, making the demon depart and the stone crumble.

Majin later returned as a god who dwelled on a small island in the middle of a lake and just like before, evil men conquered the peaceful lands around his shrine. This time, however, the evil doers actually blew up the statue of Majin. However, Majin returned anyway in a new body of stone and attacks the evil men, destroying them utterly. Majin was last seen in a snowy mountain pass between a peaceful land and the lands of an evil warlord. As usual, the warlord begins to kidnap slaves from the surrounding lands in order to exploit them, eventually awakening Majin from his slumber and he destroys the warlord.

Majin stood at a height of 25 meters and weighed 20,000 tons. Now while he never actually battled another kaiju, the ancient kaiju still had quite an impressive array of abilities. Abilities such as invulnerability, the ability to become a ball of fire and travel, power over natural elements, resistance against any natural environment, and able to fill enemies' minds with visions of spirits and cause earthquakes.

DECEMBER 2005

OROCHI

Orochi, the eight-headed dragon, made his debut in the 1994 film, "Yamato Takeru". In this film, 10 million years ago, the Earth was ravaged and nearly destroyed by the eight-headed hydra known as Orochi. The only reason Orochi did not succeed in destroying the Earth, was because a warrior god named Susano defeated him, striking down the evil hydra and imprisoning him in an icy tomb. Orochi wasn’t seen until he suddenly appeared on the moon in the year 1994. It turns out that Tusukujomi, an evil god and brother to Susano, was actually the evil hydra, Orochi, who had tried to destroy the world all those centuries ago. Tusukujomi soon turned into Orochi once again and set out to destroy Earth, but was confronted by the warrior god Utsuno Ikusagmi. After a long and vicious battle, Orochi was finally defeated and the humans trapped Tusukujomi's body in his very own medallion. They then cast the medallion into the blackness of space, ending his reign of terror forever.

Orochi stood at a height of 22 meters, was 66 meters long, and weighed 8,000 tons. This mythical creature posessed many abilities, including the ability to spew red lightning from his eyes and mouths, the ability to spit fire from his mouths, a powerful tail, strong jaws, sharp claws, can travel in space, and has the ability to have his severed limbs come to life.
