The Mothra adult marionette used for the 2003 film, “Godzilla X Mothra X MechaGodzilla: Tokyo S.O.S.” was probably the best version of Mothra to come out of Toho since the 1960s, even though it was a refurbished Mothra Leo prop! Mothra both looked and flew better than ever in this film, the CGI being well integrated with the live action shots. This Mothra marionette was made by suit maker Shinichi Wakasa to look a lot like the original Mothra from 1961 and boy did he and his team ever succeed in that. Mothra's wings were very colorful and her body very realistically hairy. The legs continued to look long and insect-like, just like in GMK, and the antennae were changed to be long and hairy. Her eyes continued to look great as well. This version of Mothra looked absolutely beautiful on film, the absolute best since the 1960s!
