Along with the many other kaiju brought back for Godzilla's 50th anniversary film, "Godzilla: Final Wars", one of Toho’s most famous kaiju, Rodan, also made his return. Although this suit, like many others in GFW, was a bit too form-fitting to the actor within, Rodan still looked great in Godzilla’s 50th anniversary film. He now appeared to be more like the Rodan of the original 1956 film and the early Showa era of Godzilla films instead of 1993’s Fire Rodan. Rodan’s dual devil horns on his head returned, as did his menacing looking eyes, his broad beak, talons on his hands/feet, a spiked chest plate that now extended down his legs, a short, stubby tail, and a beautiful wingspan. The legs of this suit were rumored to have come from the Cretaceous King Ghidorah suit used in “Rebirth of Mothra III”. Rodan was also very colorful this time around, appearing bright red/orange instead of his traditional deep reddish brown. There were also several great CGI shots of Rodan flying over New York, attacking the city. One particularly nice shot was that of Rodan standing on a skyscraper, cackling into the night sky as the full moon showed brightly behind him.
