Rodan 1968
Rado`68

Played by: Teruo Niigaki

“Destroy All Monsters” in 1968 brought about the worst version of Rodan (portrayed by Teruo Niigaki) to date, at least in my opinion. This suit was once again the 1964/65 Rodan suit refurbished. Now while the suit was given a more sleek, bird-like head, the wings were crudely designed and so was the chest plate. The beak had the same curved down look as in 1965, but it seemed to be even worse, making Rodan look like he was mentally challenged. The suit’s poor look could be blamed on the film’s suit budget, however, seeing as they had already created new Godzilla/Anguirus suits and had to refurbish many other older suits and props. Thankfully, the suit wasn’t used in too many scenes. Instead, a smaller Rodan prop was used for several scenes. Most notably the “fishing” scene, the attack on Moscow, chasing the Moonlight SY-3, and flying over the Mount Fuji battle.
