King Seesar was created for the 1974 film “Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla” as an ally to the Monster King who was portrayed by suit actor Mamoru Kusumi, who also portrayed Anguirus in the film. Resembling one of the many Komainu statues that stand guard outside Shinto shrines in Japan, King Seesar basically looks like a cross between a lion and a dog. The King Seesar suit featured scaly brown skin covered in shaggy brownish/blondish fur, steely eyes, floppy ears, a large dog-like snout, three clawed hands and feet, and a tail tipped with shaggy fur. One of the more entertaining aspects of the King Seesar suit is that when he was surprised in the film, the suit’s normally floppy ears would stick straight up. King Seesar is also one of the very few mammalian kaiju in the Godzilla series.
