News from Far East Monsters!
October 15, 2008

The other day I spoke with Bill Kerner of Far East Monsters about what’s new with the company. He had the following to say…

We are still working away on the Destroy All Monsters Battlezone figurines, we are currently going through the process of having things costed, approved and scheduled... sometimes it goes quick and sometimes it takes longer. I can confirm that both sculpts of the Rodan & Mothra figurine and the Gorosaurus figurine are done. Sound chips are done as well. So things are moving along! I would say that it’s doubtful that a new figurine will be released this year, but we are looking to get the new ones out next year (Rodan & Mothra and Gorosaurus). We also have a pretty cool announcement coming soon!

Aside from the DAM Battlezone, Far East Monsters will be at the Screaming Tiki show this coming weekend, will be at the Chiller Theatre next weekend, and will attend their final show of the year at Wizard World Texas. Below are links to these conventions as well as a link to a new review of their DAM Battlezone King Ghidorah by Collection DX. Hope everyone is as excited as I am about the great, upcoming items from Far East Monsters!

More Far East Monsters DAM Battlezone Info!
August 1, 2008

Got some more news about the release date for the next DAM Battlezone figurine and some other upcoming Far East Monsters products from Bill Kerner...
Looks like the next figurine, which will probably be Rodan & Mothra but it's not 100% confirmed yet, will be released either late this year or early next year. The Gorosaurus is currently being finished up as well (sculpting wise). There's also going to be some new products out next year (outside the Battlezone figurines) that can't be revealed just yet. Check back for more info when available!

From Wesley Shadrix:
Looks like this year American Greetings will be releasing yet another Godzilla ornament, this time from 1975's "Terror of MechaGodzilla." Here's some details and a link to the site featuring a picture of the ornament...
"Holding the head of Mechagodzilla, Godzilla celebrates another victory. This ornament features the robot's light up eyes and the sound of Godzilla's roar when you push a button."

Far East Monsters Reveals Upcoming DAM Figures - Rodan & Mothra!
June 20, 2008

From Far East Monsters and Sci-Fi Japan:
Today, Far East Monsters, via the website Sci-Fi Japan, revealed a look at the next addition to the great Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Battlezone line up, Rodan & Mothra (Figurine 3)! The base for this piece will slide together with those of the already released Godzilla and King Ghidorah figurines to recreate the final battle from the classic 1968 Toho film, Destroy All Monsters. This figurine will feature both Rodan and Mothra along with their authentic roars and sound effects for both kaiju from the final battle with King Ghidorah. This figurine will also come with another piece of the Destroy All Monsters logo. A release date for this figurine has not yet been announced.

The pictures below were sent to me by Bill Kerner and show a proto-type for Rodan & Mothra up against the already completed figurines of Godzilla and King Ghidorah. The other picture shows a sketch of what Rodan & Mothra will look like up close, with information about the figurine.

King Ghidorah Lands at Far East Monsters!

So what’s new from Tom Tvrdik and Bill Kerner over at Far East Monsters? Well I’ll tell you; this last weekend they unveiled their second and newest addition to the “Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Battlezone” line of figures, King Ghidorah! Here’s some information from their site…
“At long last, King Ghidorah is ready to be unveiled! After many set backs and our sculptor's broken wrist, the mighty space dragon is making his first appearance on our site! Highly detailed, beautifully painted, with an incredible lights and sound sequence, King Ghidorah stands at over 12 inches tall and is the second figurine in the Destroy All Monsters Battlezone series! Slide him into position against Godzilla (also available from Far East Monsters, but they have limited quantities and they are going fast) and press the activation buttons for a spectacular lights and sound Battle Royale!”

Now, King Ghidorah is extremely limited as there are only 1500 of them being made, so get him while you can. Pre-orders became available on their website this past weekend, so head on over to the Far East Monsters website and get this fantastic, limited figure before he’s all gone!

More Information from Far East Monsters!

I've been speaking with Bill Kerner from Far East Monsters lately about the DAM Battlezone line of figures and have some more information on the great new line. First, here is a link to a video of the Godzilla from the new series of figures, CLICK HERE. If you haven't picked one of these up yet, I strongly suggest that you do so. Check out my Collection Updates section on what I think of the one I bought. Bill is also currently busy putting together an illustration of the DAM Battlezone, showing how it will look when its complete. I have a picture below from G-Fest that also shows how the Battlezone will look, thanks to Armand Vaquer for the photo. And finally, King Ghidorah might be out earlier than 2008, with a possible late 2007 release, but according to Bill, it all depends on how things work out with their manufacturer. Check back here or check out the Far East Monsters website for more information, and don't forget about their puzzles and velvet art posters that will be available mid to late August!

New Line of Figures from Far East Monsters!

A bit of old news, but I wanted to report on it before it was too late. New U.S. company Far East Monsters, the people who made the American Greetings Godzilla Christmas ornaments, will be releasing a new line of figures beginning just after G-Fest XIV. These figures are based on the climactic final battle in 1968's Destroy All Monsters. Starting with Godzilla, they will be releasing eight different figures with bases in a limited edition series based on the classic film mentioned before. When assembled, all eight pieces will create the final battle in a diorama scene. Each piece will have unique features, such as lights, sound, and possibly motion. Each part of the series will come with a portion of the "Destroy All Monsters" logo to add to the finished display. The series will feature 11 monsters when completed. Godzilla is being released next week, followed by King Ghidorah sometime in 2008. The rest of the monsters will be released after that and include Rodan & Mothra, Gorosaurus, Kumonga, Baragon & Manda, Varan & Minilla, and Anguirus. Check out the Far East Monsters website linked to above for more information!

New Bandai 6-inch Jet Jaguar!

New Bandai toy news from Monsterzero.us, it appears that this January Bandai will be releasing a new Jet Jaguar figure that will be in scale with the Movie Monster 6-inch line and will retail for about the same price as the new 6-inch Godzilla 1968 and Hedorah. At this time it is unknown if the figure will be a new mold or a repaint of the old one, but time will tell!

New 6-inch Movie Monster Figures This Fall!

This Fall we will be getting a pleasant little surprise from Bandai along with the same old stuff. Sometime in September or October, Bandai will be once again re-releasing 6-inch figures of the 1954 Godzilla, Heisei Godzilla, Final Wars Godzilla, Heisei King Ghidorah, Destroyah, SpaceGodzilla, Tokyo SOS Mothra, Tokyo SOS MechaGodzilla, Final Wars Gigan, Final Wars Rodan, and Final Wars Anguirus.

However, joining them will be two NEW figures to the 6-inch Movie Monsters line, one figure that’s completely brand new and one from last year’s 50th Anniversary Memorial Box. For the first time, the Memorial Box 1968 Godzilla will be being sold tagged and painted in what looks like a darker color than the previous green release. The brand new figure will be a 6-inch version of everyone’s favorite pollution kaiju, HEDORAH! The photo below is of the uncompleted figures, the Godzilla 1968 is last year’s Memorial Box version and the Hedorah is an unpainted prototype, but both figures look great and I can’t wait to get them!

2006 Godzilla High Grade Set 12 Announced!

Well, the next Godzilla High Grade set, High Grade Set 12, has been announced, and what a disapointment it is. The set will contain only one new kaiju to the HG line, that being Hedorah 1971. The rest of the set will be reissues of figures from past high grade sets like the GFW Godzilla 2005, Rodan 1956, Anguirus 1968, Little Godzilla, MOGERA 1994, and being rereleased for the second time, Destroyah and SpaceGodzilla. The set will be released in January and will retail around the usual $20 per set. Now why can't they actually come up with something original instead of just rereleasing a bunch of figures? Where's Gabara, Titanosaurus, Manda, Fire Rodan, Giant Condor, Baby Godzilla, Oodako, or any other version of Godzilla we have yet to see in the HG line? Or if they must rerelease these figures, why not have Destroyah's flying form or SpaceGodzilla's flying form? Click the picture thumbnail below for a larger image of this set.
