What Happened
Before 1964’s Mothra vs. Godzilla became what we know today, it had several script re-writes and changes made to it. Originally Godzilla would have taken on a much more prominent role in the film, with Mothra being more of a “supporting kaiju”. The Monster King’s unconscious form was to have washed ashore and been discovered, not Mothra’s egg, which would not have been involved at all, nor would the Mothra Larvas. The country of Rolisica would have also been featured in this film.
Plot
In Japan, a couple scientists and a reporter named Sakai discover the unconscious body of Godzilla, who apparently washed ashore in the Nagoya area during a recent storm. Thought to be dead instead of simply unconscious, local businessmen seek to profit from the Monster King’s body by purchasing it and marketing it as a tourist attraction. However, Godzilla soon awakens from his slumber and begins wreaking havoc across Japan once again, even heading for the country of Rolisica (the country from the original Mothra film in 1961). Rolisica fights back with the new Frontier Missiles, but they have no effect on the King of the Monsters and Godzilla continues his rampage. Meanwhile, Sakai and the scientists journey to Infant Island, seeking Mothra’s help against Godzilla. The natives and the twin fairies eventually agree and send Mothra to Japan. Meanwhile, Godzilla has returned to Japan and is heading toward Tokyo, overcoming another new weapon against him, the Artificial Lightning Generators, along the way. Soon after, Mothra arrives in Japan and engages Godzilla in battle, with the outcome unknown.
